Nothing accentuates your negotiating position like signalling publicly that you're going to get fucked by the SEC if the guy on the other side of the table doesn't meet your terms.

They would do so if that was the only option.

It should be very easy for you to quote the text that Musk released which indicates that the Saudis had offered to underwrite the entire buyout.

Nope. He said that they talked to him about going private. He never said they offered to buy the whole thing.

That is the only debate here.

The Saudis have the cash. Did they offer to use enough of it to underwrite the entire buyout?

Unless the saudis truly have the cash

They have the cash. At no point did they try to fund the buyout in its entirety. These are two entirely separate questions that Musk is conflating.

Of course they're comparable. They're both numbers, they're able to be compared.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

...Yes. That's the point. The market does not value short term gains over long term growth. With respect to China paying for the factory: That is growth that Tesla doesn't have to pay for. OF COURSE it's going to garner a more positive reception than just announcing the Chinese gigafactory.

On an unrelated note, bitch that phrase don't make no sense why can't fruit be compared?

I'm gonna need you to elaborate on that, because everything I know about Buffet tells me that the idea is nonsense. Why would he buy into a company that has massive losses and a stock price inflated to hell and back?

Berkshire Hathaway alone has $120B in cash;

There's next to zero chance that Berkshire Hathaway buys Tesla. You should really read up (e: on) Buffet's investing philosophy.

Tesla Inc. has about 170.6 million shares outstanding, of which Musk owns about 33.7 million, meaning that he’d need about $57 billion to buy all the shares he doesn’t already own at $420 per share, plus perhaps another $10 billion to pay off bonds that come due on a change of control.

What's the misinformation?

You don't get to complain about negative press being out of proportion when the positive press you get is out of proportion to the same degree.

They said they do and they have the money.

Please post the exact language used where Musk relayed an intention from the PIF to fund the entire buyout.

If they tell musk they will buy the company outright, musk can announce that.

Yes, he could.

He hasn't.

Why hasn't he?

I've read it. I invite you to try and find the exact language which would support the idea that the Saudis have offered to underwrite the entire buyout.

Do any of your other stocks have a chance to be gifted a 20% boost?

If you invest in an index fund that covers the S&P 500 you're getting 3/5ths of that on average per year.

How much money are you willing to leave on the table, though? You don't know where the ceiling is ahead of time.
