Kevin Spacey has been rightfully canceled, but my god he gives such a layered performance in this movie. Everyone does. I do not like Anette Benning as an actress and her performance, especially in the end of the movie is so good. There's a lot of uncomfortable subplots in the movie, especially dealing with Lester's infatuation with his daughter's teenaged friend, but I feel that stuff worked in this movie. It's a weird melodrama and really an acting showcase. Chris Cooper's performance later knowing what we know is also outstanding as well.
