Steven Seagal is both an awful actor and a dreadful person (predatory behaviour).
However, Under Siege (1992) is by far the best of the Die Hard clones. This is mostly to do with the superb performances of Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey (who both play far more interesting people than Seagal).
Nonetheless, Seagal is slightly less wooden than in every other of his roles (the villains of course never get to lay a hand on him, but this is Seagal’s tedious signature and there are moments where he is portrayed as vulnerable).

Planning to start a movie marathon from Christmas to New Year, one movie a day. Could be anything from best of 2023, cult classics, feel-good movies, movies that make you think about life... etc.
Did not have a great year personally and I want to enjoy these last few days watching some good movies. Thanks!

Have you ever been watching a movie when the lights go out, a bird flies into your window, your cat freaks out, a painting falls off the wall, a fire alarm goes off, that sort of thing? What were you watching at the time, and how badly did you freak out because of the real world incident going around you?

I have a lot of beloved Christmas movies on my list, but I just finished watching It’s a Wonderful Life with my family for the first time in years and I am amazed at how great this movie is.
The message, the acting, and the overall feel of the movie feels so ahead of its time (I’m young, so I understand that many may not feel the same in regard to this point).
Even still, it truly is a movie that is deep and moving, and reminds me how wonderful life can be, especially the connections we make with others. Especially right now, with how bleak the world can feel, it’s an amazing reminder that the connections we make and the people we impact truly make us wealthy and provide true value to our lives, rather than just pursuing wealth or comfort.
It’s been a while since a movie has made me feel this way, and considering it’s a little over 75 years old it’s really impressive how much it connects with human nature.
Also, I love musicals as much as the next guy, but it’s great seeing a Christmas movie that doesn’t lean on singing to provide some emotion to the movie. It really feels like a movie that makes a massive emotional impact on the story alone, which I deeply appreciate.
Curious to see if anyone feels the same way!

Ideally I try to watch a film before listening to the corresponding episode. However due to time and/or lack of interest I’ll either watch some of the movie before bailing (ie Dark Shadows) or not bother (Master Builder) - especially given how some episodes they barely talk about the film.
This beg the question of what movies have you not seen for the podcast.

After watching 'Talk to me' I got more respect for the genre and decided to also watch 'Smile' I loved the camera shots/angels and enjoyed the story of both movies! I appreciated the camera shots and angles in both films, and the stories were enjoyable. However, 'Smile' had a downside for me, the amount of jump scares, in every scary moment. It became a bit annoying. It took away the surprise and anticipation.
Are there good Horror movie's out here that do not rely that much on jump scares? So I can celebrate christmas very traditionlly by watching a scary movie by the christmas tree?
Just went and watched All Of Us Strangers and noticed something that happens a lot when I go to the movies. Despite the film not being a comedy there were people laughing throughout the entire film. Even at the very emotional parts some people in the audience would laugh and it would take me out emotionally of the movie.
I noticed this happens a lot for other non-comedys since the pandemic, had similar experience watching Maestro recently. Anyone else get annoyed by this? I feel like sometimes people want to make a social experience of going to the movies when and will easily burst into laughter or say a remerk to the person next to them.
