I am on Long Island and have considered a Tesla. A friend at work picked up his the other day and they had 60 deliveries. It got me thinking does the Tesla service infrastructure keep up with the sales. Tesla is the only one that can service a Tesla so as they keep pumping out cars can they keep up with the service? I would worry that if you have an issue it will take weeks to get repaired due to backlog.

Tesla's over-the-air updates could be a potential weakness for security, as they could be used to remove safety features en masse.
-
The 'Smart Summon' feature could also be exploited to turn a fleet of Teslas into a rampaging horde.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has acknowledged the risk of a fleet-wide hack and has taken steps to ensure the security of Tesla cars.

I looked into the lowest priced model 3 Tesla. It seems like there’s a 20–4-10 rule when buying a car. With that, I would have to be making 110k a year to comfortable afford one.
The way my mind works is, if I don’t have the income, then I simply can’t buy one. To me buying one without the right income would cause a panic.
Yet I see so many Teslas and many are more premium models.
Are these people just making so much they can comfortably afford it or are so many people that irrational? Or am I an overthinker?

Always a lot of questions and criticisms on here (myself included), but last week I got hit by the big east coast storm. I’ve had my system for over 2 years and this was the first true back up use. I have an 8.7 kW system with x2 Powerwall 2’s. We were off-grid from Monday 9am to Wednesday 8pm. Got as low as 15% on the batteries running lights, heat, refrigerator, well pump and my wife’s computer. Solar gave us an extra 8kW per day Tuesday and Wednesday.
For all the headaches, when it’s functioning properly, these systems work well.

I was just curious why you guys would recommend Prius Prime over the Tesla Model 3 since they're similar priced after the tax rebates.

It's not even about Tesla the company, I get the gripes people have with Elon himself. But it's all EVs too. I told a friend I got a new car, expecting congratulations, and instead was met with "you mean the car that just got recalled?". Sure, I get it, people don't read past the headlines. Dude owns a motorcycle, I could never own one but I'm not gonna shame him for the dangers of motorcycles.
But every single time I've talked to someone in the first week of owning this car, I've gotten negativity. Spoke to an electrician friend of mine yesterday about installing a charger who immediately went "oh well I heard that they're imposing a gas tax on EV owners next year, couldn't be me". Another friend went on a rant about how much of a 'waste of time' charging at superchargers is.
EVs/Teslas aren't for everyone. But I guarantee you, most people who own them didn't do it on a whim and KNOW all of these things already and still made the best decision for themselves. The superchargers near me are in plazas I frequent often. If I can charge for 20 min while I run into Trader Joes, that I was going to go to ANYWAY, how is that a waste of time?!
Literally just say congrats and move on. I guess I have to get used to this, huh?

After two and a half years of owning my 2021 MYLR the 12V battery died. The car has accumulated just over 38,000 miles.
-
Although the car was charged to 80% overnight, it unexpectedly would not wake up this morning. I was unable to access it through the app, disconnect the charger, or open the doors. After contacting roadside assistance and the Service Center, they suggested the issue was with the 12V battery and instructed me on how to jump-start it. Once jump-started, I drove to the Service Center where the battery was replaced. This was my first significant issue and my initial call to roadside service; I must say, their response was impressively quick. Right after submitting the request through the app, a representative was in contact with me. The Service Center representative was extremely helpful and provided clear instructions for restarting the car. Overall, I am impressed. The whole process took about two hours, and the battery replacement was free of charge.
Aww, cripes. I didn't know I'd have to write a description. How many words is that so far, like a hundred? Soooo, yeah. Mildly interesting stuff. Stuff that interests you. Mildly. It's in the name, ffs.
