FRAFF It's A Long Way To Come Just To Turn Around And Go Back Again 1998

Discogs

Fraff Biography

by Andy Kellman

Using the phrase "post-punk throwbacks" is rather misguided when referring to Fraff, since some of the band's members actually participated in the early scene. Vocalist Tom Fawcett was in the Native Hipsters, the short-lived Rough Trade band responsible for one of the finest (albeit very bizarre) post-punk singles, "There Goes Concorde Again." Too Pure honcho Paul Cox played guitar and harmonica, Karl Hussey (ex-Mint 400) hit the drums, Steve Cox (brother of Paul) played keyboards, Ged Murphy played guitar, and Ian (ex-Furline) played bass. Likened to Captain Beefheart, XTC, Television, and '60s garage bands, Fraff debuted on a split single with Cotton Mather. The 1998 EP It's a Long Time to Come Just to Turn Around and Go Back Again was their first major release, followed shortly after with You've Got a Lot of Friends in This Town, which compiled the previous release and a number of cuts from singles. 2000's Resist the Call to Rock followed quickly on its heels. All of the band's major releases were issued by Rainbow Quartz.

Artist Biography

by Mike DaRonco

With their fuse of punk rock attitude and heavy metal backings, the London-based Mint 400 have the musical intention of ridding the British flood of techno and indie. On top of their use of eerie lyrics and quirky song structure, Vilebeat Records eventually released their 1999 full-length debut entitled Intercomfort.
