The Del-Lords - The Best Of CD 99 w Howlin' At The Halloween Moon CD 89 w Live at The Tower Theater in Philadelphia, PA WISP Radio 'Hands Across America" Broadcast May 3rd, 1986

H A P P Y   N E W   Y E A R ! ! !  My last post of the year for RFelis at his insistence that he needed to hear some Del-Lords after Scott Tempner's untimely death last month and before I could get their vinyl and other related bands like the Dictators and Symptoms (found their 1978 'mainstream new wave album in pretty good shape that I will fix up like the rest plus Skeletons, etc. to post next year when all of it arrives).  For now, this is a great inspiring compilation and I added the radio broadcast just downloaded this week from another blog and it is fabulous.  Hang tight for more--will post when back from using up my year end vacation in town.  Cheers to all and I look forward to a '4' year in music like 1994 which was the peak year for alternative IMO.  Oh yeah, my pre-amp finally blew after doing the Bumpers double album below as I had more for 24 that will continue in January 2024. And Lou Whitney died before him  and what a scene-making force that man was u will see and hear next year!  Stay safe.

SHA-NA-NA - 20 Greatest Hits tape w st LP 71 w The Golden Age Of Rock 'N' Roll (LIVE) 2LP 73 w Rock N' Roll Is Here To Stay CD 88

REPOST and ADD ON:  Found another of their CD's shown on bottom that I had got at Goodwill and was misfiled...was thinking it would go with the Del-Lord's pre-anthology post above to honor Scott Kempner in his recent passing.  What I wrote before:  The punks don't really seem to give these guys as much credit as they are due after having the Ramones on their old TV show which I used to watch as all knew them from Happy Days back then.  Now adding these three vinyl to my cassette from before REALLY shows how deep and excellent their 50's and 60's cover song selection was carrying it forward to the Woodstock generation.

SEMISONIC - Pleasure CD 95 w Great Divide CD 96 w Feeling Strangely Fine CD 98 w All About Chemistry CD 00 w You're Not Alone CD EP 20 w CDEP's 98

REPOST and CDEP ADD ON:  Short group of three artists for which I had bought their CDEP's all from the same pressing company someone had at an old record show and I forgot to include them in past posts.  A little Christmas bonus this year!  Fitting since Dan Wilson was on the Heiruspecs CD I posted two weeks ago as part of my 2-week 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop Celebration with local video's from my old youtube channel.  What I wrote last post:  Well yes, I saw their first shows at First Avenue club as I had followed and seen shows from two of the members previous band Trip Shakespeare and have been a big fan.  In fact, last time I saw them was a big rib fest block party in downtown Minneapolis and it had to be one of the best live shows I had ever seen!  It was back when I was filming songs for my defunct youtube channel but somehow I missed that show--had to focus on the dancing ya know!   The Twilight Hours with John and Dan's brother Matt were also a big hit on my old youtube channel.  Dan won a Grammy too for a Dixie Chicks tune.

The second CDEP was an 'Enhanced CD' that I think was supposed to be a video but I couldn't get it to work so I just copy and pasted the whole folder of files on it for youse folks to figure out so please post in comments if you do for the rest of us.  Happy New Year!

TALK TALK - The Party's Over LP 82 w It's My Life LP 84 w The Colour Of Spring LP 86 w Spirit Of Eden LP 88 w Laughing Stock LP 91

REPOST Request:  What was wrote before:  Another passing this year (per below post) from February, thanks Angsty for the comment:  Still in shock after hearing about Mark Hollis's death this morning. 64 was way too young. There aren't many true geniuses in music, but he was one of them.  Also, I forget who said it under another post but that the 86 LP was some kind of masterpiece.

SHERIFF - st CD 82 12

Yes, generally I avoid the hair metal but ClassicMusic20 was hyping up his fellow Canadians here saying how much fun people at youtube were having reminiscing about this one-off wonder!  From Discogs: Sheriff is an AOR/hard rock band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that was formed in 1979. The band split up in 1985.

Sheriff was a 'one-hit wonder' Canadian band, who had a huge hit with When I'm With You. When the band broke up, Curci & DeMarchi formed Alias (13), while Lanni & Hassel formed Frōzen Ghōst, with both groups garnering further success for the members.

Freddie Curci the singer and of their big hit song that became a hit years after its release "When I'm With You" well his wife (Lara Cody) does a lot of Anime Voice Acting and Loves talking about her husband's music career on her facebook page.

MOONDOG - st LP 69 w 2 CD 71

REPOST Request and ADD ON:  Found MOONDOG 2 at another blog a while back.  From Discogs:  Real Name: Louis Thomas Hardin

Profile: Born May 26, 1916 in Marysville, Kansas; died September 8, 1999 in Münster, Germany.

Moondog wrote most of his music in braille, having lost his sight in an accident involving a dynamite cap at the age of 17.

Revered pioneer on the avant-garde/minimalist scene, usually within the jazz realm. His revolutionary attitude towards composition and melody was lauded by such eminent contemporaries as Philip Glass and Steve Reich, while his style and attitude drew comparisons to Harry Partch. His influence can be seen in the music of Stereolab and Moonshake among many others.
