Ronnie Spector 1989 - Back To Back - #1: In the early 1960s, the Ronettes, with Ronnie Spector as lead singer, scored nukerous chart hits, including Be My Baby, Baby, I Love You, Walking In The rain and I Can Hear Music, just to name a few. The Ronettes also recorded 3 tracks for the album A Christmas Gift For You from Phil Spector - Frosty The Snoman, Sleigh Ride and I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus> (Of Note - Darlene Love and The Crystals were also major contributors to the albim). The disc went to #10 on the Billboard charts and was ranked #142 on Rolling Stone magazine's 2003 and 2012 lists of the 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time. In 2019, Rolling Stone ranked it as the greatest Christmas album of all time. Ronnie's connection to that album continued to her death, as she often performed Christmas shows in New York clubs. This excellent audience recording captures her doing exactly that at the early show at the Village Gate on December 22, 1989, 44 years ago today.
