I got married at the end of this year 2024. I’m trying to obtain a ITIN number for my wife and I contacted H&R Block. They had mentioned that I will need to file my 2023 taxes and attach a W-2 ITIN application for my wife. My attorney for immigration told me that I need to apply for an ITIN number first.can anyone help me with this? Do I need to file my 2023 taxes and then apply for a W7 ITI number, or do I apply first for the ITIN number on the website, then obtain it and file my 2023 taxes?
