A better one might be very minor support ticket updates that get worded like "Good evening sir, pease do the needful at your earliest convenience. Thank you" where "Hi, you can go ahead." would suffice.

I check subscription uploads

shows me recent subscription uploads, which renders notifications pointless.

Yeah that used to work alright until Youtube introduced youtube tiktoks shorts. It used to just get somewhat unwieldy when the amount of subscritions tipped a certain point, but when shorts where introduced that window just got even more fucked.

I used to rely on it, but am regularly forced to bow to the recommendation algorithm because the subscribed queue is fucking awful.

Websites used to give us filters, anyone remember those? Even Netflix let you filter by subgenres if you wanted. I'd use the fuck out of some custom youtube filtering, but it doesn't even let you hide videos you've watched. Sorry I'm ranting, but look how they massacered my boy Web 2.0

Not a bad idea in principle, but be aware it's the russian Google equivalent and as such is probably piped straight through the headquarters of the FSB.

I don't doubt for a second that mob mentality...

it's an inherent human flaw...

No it's not, it's social darwinist fantasy bullshit. We would never go anywhere as a species without altruism and cooperation.

Some do justify their own selfish behaviour against fellow humans by reciting stuff like that, though. I guess it helps them feel better about their own actions.

Need help with salary question by francobian in Norway

Oh yeah, definitely. The site is just such a concise resource on minimum wage that I thought I'd link the site for anyone else reading about the matter, even if tangentially relevant.

Seeings as beverage production is not on the list below I don't think minimum wage applies for this user, but I'm adding this info from Arbeidstilsynet here anyway because it may be relevant for others (Link contains more info, with relevant wages for each industry): https://www.arbeidstilsynet.no/en/working-conditions/pay-and-minimum-rates-of-pay/minimum-wage/

Minimum wages has been introduced in certain sectors in general application of collective agreements, in part to prevent foreign workers from being given poorer pay and working conditions than are usual in Norway. Collective agreements apply to everyone who works in the specific sector, regardless of whether they are party to the agreement.

There is no general minimum wage in Norway in other sectors than the ones listed below:

The following sectors have generally applicable collective agreements:
- Construction
- The maritime construction industry
- Agriculture and horticulture
- Cleaning workers
- Fish processing enterprises
- Electricians
- Freight transport by road
- Passenger transport by tour bus
- Hotel, Restaurant and Catering

Actually, that's more or less exactly what happened to the dad in The brainwashing of my dad.

He got radicalized by Rush Limbaugh on his long commutes and started watching Fox News and various newletters, but got better later in life after his wife unsubscribed him from all fascist media while he was in the hospital.

u/nagonjin explains why surprising, shaming or correcting conservatives doesn't work by Malk_McJorma in bestof

[–]rsenic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You are assuming they must follow some kind of set of rules derived from a specific political grouping, which must then be defended as a whole. Conservativism and communism are similar in that regard because they both strive to a certain sets of moral standard, but this is specifically why communist states have worked so hard to marginalize anarchists.

Is SDAM a "Saving" Issue or a "Access" Issue? by Perkunas22 in SDAM

[–]rsenic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, nothing, not even my SO of over a decade who I see every day. I do recognize people, and have a "feeling" of their style/build, but I can't imagine them or their faces.

Is SDAM a "Saving" Issue or a "Access" Issue? by Perkunas22 in SDAM

[–]rsenic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "bits" may be flashbulb memories, where the brain just dumps a whole lot of sensory info into one package because it feels important (Like "what were you doing the moment 9/11 happened"). I have some of these, but mostly as facts saved with a kind of static wireframe model of my surroundings at the time.

As for your trip home, it most likely did not contain anything out of the ordinary and were deemed "not worth saving." If you do the same routine every day for a week it will likely feel like it "flew by" for the same reasons.

People without SDAM save a kind of file they can later plop into a sort of holodeck to "re-run the simulation" as it were, but the images themselves are not saved as something static.

Memories revisited often have been shown to change slightly each time they are recalled.

Is SDAM a "Saving" Issue or a "Access" Issue? by Perkunas22 in SDAM

[–]rsenic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal, but to me SDAM feels like how others describe alcohol blackouts (a saving issue).

When drunk myself I always seem to remember the broad strokes of what's happened, where I went, etc. Fact saving seems to be intact in all cases. In other words it's more or less just like being sober.

This leads me to believe episodic memory ("saving memories") is broken in SDAM but you can get by quite well on semantic memory ("saving facts").

Why More Physicists Are Starting to Think Space and Time Are ‘Illusions’ by Creepy_Toe2680 in Futurology

It shows up in many different ways, but is usually related to the same thing. I rarely get the jagged blind spots, but if the wallpaper/carpets/sidewalk starts moving around like ants then I know I've got about an hour to get somewhere dark and take meds.

Give "migraine aura" a google, those often manifest in the way you describe. They usually precede a headache, but some people get the "aura only"-variety.

industries were privatized en masse. Several banks, shipyards, railway lines, shipping lines, welfare organizations, and more were privatized. The government took the stance that enterprises should be in private hands wherever possible. State ownership was to be avoided

Dette er samme Maria Zähler som tok over Resett etter Helge Lurås.
Hun representerer kapitalinteresser og fascister, ikke "oslofolk".
