Do you think people should have the right to end their lives painlessly?

Personally I believe that we should make every effort to try and persuade people not to end their lives, but we should never deprive them of the ability to do it. I think every single person should have the right to get a lethal dose of morphine or tramadol from the GP, if they have decided that they're done with their life and want to end it. I think that the GP should only give it to them if they've been thinking about it for a while and have thought it over carefully, rather than in the spur of the moment. But I think it's cruel and selfish to try and force people to live by depriving them of a peaceful death. People should be allowed to go in peace if they really want to.

What do you buy for someone who doesn’t eat or drink?

I’m a teacher, and a parent of an ex-student comes in to help me once a week. He is awesome, so kind to give up his time and an absolute legend for still coming in to help us years after his child has left us.

I want to show my appreciation with a Christmas gift but he is teetotal and into healthy eating. I have no ideas about hobbies and I’m starting to realise how awkward it is to buy for men you hardly know when food and drink gifts are off the table. Ideal budget is no more than £20.

So… any ideas, Reddit?

Update: by ‘doesn’t eat’, I mean that he fasts and is generally sugar free (clumsy wording - I’m tired). A box of Ferraro Rocher isn’t going to cut the mustard here!

Some great suggestions so far, thank you so much. And if you’re going to comment with ‘a coffin’ then about 10 other people have beaten you to it so far. But if it makes you feel good then go for it.

How do you know if someone needs help?

My son and I were walking home from the shop and an older gentleman asked for help to cross the road and get his groceries in, which of course we were happy to give.

While helping him he seemed to be in quite a bit of pain and I noticed a lot of blood on his trousers, he must be ill as he had a number of medications in his house but I'm wondering if he's getting the assistance he needs?

I obviously don't know the full story but I'm sitting here thinking and worrying about him and wondering if there is maybe someone I should contact who can check on him and make sure he's being taken care of?

Does anyone have any advice or experience with something similar?
