Old roommate (m34) won't move out.

We also had talked about fixing up the house, having a guest room for his sister/family when they visit. And eventually renting it out to pursue other jobs abroad. Stuff that can't happen with the roommate around.

I get this. I keep trying to wrap my head around the idea of him just staying here. I do feel uncomfortable though, there's no help on chores from his part, he leaves his stuff around, I don't feel comfortable carrying out my routines like yoga or cooking so much because he's just there staring, he talks a lot but never listens or pays attention to what I have to say. IDK. I have a hard time, I would also appreciate advice on how to get along better.

Old roommate (m34) won't move out.

I need help figuring out how to talk to my (f29) partner (m35)'s old roommate (m34). Here's the story:

After about a year and a half of dating and six months of being in a serious committed relationship, I agree to move in with my boyfriend. I wasn't sure before (he asked pretty early on the relationship), mostly because I was living comfortably alone in my cousin's vacant apartment with a/c, pool, and a few other commodities I wouldn't normally have. I love my boyfriend and all but at the time he was living with his roommate, and while we do get along fine he's a bit all over the place. The roommate, let's call him Barney, is messy, he doesn't let anyone know when or if he will be home (sometimes arriving at 1 am hours of the night) and he doesn't contribute much to house chores. Around summer, Barney announces he and his gf are moving into an apartment, we help him move and I finally give in and agree to move in with my bf now.

Note: My bf's place is a house he inherited from his aunt.

My bf and I have plans starting July for a two-week summer trip, and after he would spend the rest of July working abroad on a project with his roommate. It was agreed that I would start moving in then by myself and he would help me finish once he is back. I got sick those last two weeks of July and ended up moving only a few essentials and most of my clothes. I work as a teacher so I started work the last week of July and it was pretty much impossible for me to take the time to pack and deal with moving during the semester. In any case, Barney, the now ex-roommate found out that his gf moved out of the country, left him alone in the apartment, and to make matters worse, his landlord sold the property and now his contract was void and he became homeless.

My bf generously said to him "no problem, move in while you get back on your feet." I was a bit upset with this but I know it must be tough for Barney so I decided to move my stuff back to my cousin's apartment and just appreciate living on my own while still being in a loving relationship. My bf insisted he wants us to live together, so I said that I would over winter break (December), I would, thinking that Barney had said he had hoped to move out by October.

As you may predict, October came and went, and Barney still lives here. I moved in in December after he had gone on a trip saying he was interviewing for a job abroad and would move there if there weren't any problems. He didn't go to the interview, he came back to the house and said he's still looking to move abroad. That was December. In January he promised by the 31st he would instead find a place to move into locally.

When I talk to my bf about it he gets visibly frustrated and said I should just talk to him about it. I don't know what to say. When I've asked him how to apartment search is going, he either says fine or ignores me. I feel like I haven't had a chance to make this new place home and I'm just the gf staying in this bro house. As time passes by I feel less supported by my bf on this and like anything I say to Barney will be seen as hateful. Any suggestions on how to have this conversation to get him to commit to moving out? I barely have seen any effort on Barney's part on looking for an apartment.

TL;DR I moved in with my bf thinking it would be our place, turns out the roommate still hasn't moved out. How do I talk to my bf's roommate about giving us space and following through with getting his own place?
