I have a metric crap ton of complex genetic health issues & while my body actively tries to kill me on a rather regular basis my body is also either jerky or a zombie or zombie jerky & I just don't die. I come real close. It's painful. I do not recommend it.

Not waking up would be fine by me.

So I have a theory that I would accidentally survive a zombie apocalypse. Not because I'm awesome or so smart but because I'm a genetic dumpster 🔥 and I'm well past my best by date. Hilarity and bitter irony ensues.

Both of my Akitas were rescues/rehomed to me & my spouse. My current doggo is 13.5yrs old and despite her age has had decent health since we got her at 6yrs old. Before she was officially ours her previous owner gave us all her vet records and we took her to our vet for a check up, too.

I personally feel bloat is probably the most concerning Akita issue and I'd probably have the stomach tacking done on a pup or younger dog because we lost our 1st Akita to bloat when he was 11/12.

It wasn't a migraine; it was a huge cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. And it wasn't a lymph node; it was breast cancer.

I absolutely sent those docs the diagnoses they missed. F*"kers.

Today, I funded my kiddo's disability lawyer's retainer so we can move forward suing the school district. It's been such an ugly experience that I avoid almost everything that needs done because it makes me RAGEY to think about it all. However, since it's my kid and not me I work really hard at just doing it as quickly as possible.

NTA but you should step away from every single conversation about this. I realize it seems like your SIL making naming her child everyone's business, but it isn't. Stop with any and all reactions to the name discussion. Nod, smile, change the subject. When people are set on being absolute bell ends nothing from anyone is gonna change that.

Also, you have years of enjoyment ahead of you hearing from SIL complaining over how no one pronounces her kid's name correctly.

Your neighbor's unsolicited opinions are totally rude and deserving of your comments BUT you could have handled your last interaction with him a little more diplomatically since you're going to be living near him for who knows how long. Something like, "Thank you, Neighbor. I will give your comments all the attention they deserve." Or "Bless your unsolicited opinions heart."

F**k off works too, but the above suggestions would probably result in significantly less mouth flapping on his part.

I am VERY clumsy with all of my nails - fingers and toes. I have had to accept that I will never have a perfect mani & pedi.

I typically use finishes that disguise bumps or are easily fixed. Scattered holos are my favorite because of this. Pearlized & cream finishes are unforgiving.

I have a mani on right now with a neon cream (which I do not generally use bc above reason) and stamps. There are certainly bumps on the neon BUT the stamping hid all of that.

I would love to see a magnet solution for clumsy people like me because I do love the magnetic finish but I found that the longer I fuss over my nails the more accidents I have.

It was direct experience resulting from living with a rehomed Akita for over a decade. He was a loyal dedicated family member. It was clear he loved us but he also had this sense of himself and his own personality and dignity.

He literally participated in raising my kids - loving on them, guarding them, helping them learn to walk, helping them learn (all directly supervised of course). He loved the neighborhood kids too when they were over (directly supervised of course).

I somehow became his person. I'm not sure how but it felt really special.

It was only logical to get another Akita after him. She also came from a rehoming situation. She is different but still the same. She is loyal dedicated protective loving dignified but in her own way. They're spectacular beings and it's a total honor to get to live with them.

This is me ~90% of the time - solid mani with maybe an accent nail. If I do end up doing anything special it is generally not something that has a process where I'm more likely to bump my nails here & there like with a magnet.
