Academic Personnel Office

The Academic Personnel Office (APO) is committed to leading and serving UCR’s diverse and internationally renowned academic community. Office staff provide support for faculty appointments and development, merit reviews and promotions, leaves of absence, fellowships, and more. The office handles employment matters for all academic employees — from faculty and lecturers to adjunct professors and librarians — and is a great resource for navigating UCR policies and processes.

Research Computing

Research Computing buoys the talent and research of UC Riverside’s acclaimed faculty members and outstanding graduate and undergraduate students through powerful onsite and offsite computing resources, support, consulting, and training. Their work is supported by partnerships and collaborations with various areas of campus, including: the UCR Library, Bourns College of Engineering, College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, School of Medicine, Office of Research and Economic Development, and UCR Research IT Leaders. Through a recent collaboration with Google Public Sector, UCR is modernizing its technology services, increasing campus computing and storage capacity — and saving our researchers both time and money.

Students design & build affordable, energy-efficient home

A groups of UCR undergraduate students design and build from the ground up a showcase house that will use solar electricity so wisely it doesn’t need to be connected to the grid.

10 for 10: The chancellor's (first) 10 years

Time accelerates during busy times; ask any short-order chef or – better – UC Riverside Chancellor Kim Wilcox. So for many – including Wilcox – it’s surprising to hear the chancellor is at the 10-year mark. Ten years ago, Wilcox was voted unanimously by the Board of Regents to be UCR’s ninth chancellor, coming to UCR from Michigan State, where he was provost from 2005 to 2013. “I look forward to helping make this great institution an even greater one in the years to come,” he said after the Aug. 8, 2013, Regents’ vote. His tenure began later that month.

UCR’s prison-to-university pipeline program gets $300K grant from California Wellness Foundation

The Underground Scholars Program at the University of California, Riverside has been awarded a $300,000 grant from the California Wellness Foundation, or Cal Wellness, to help young people involved with the juvenile justice system enroll and succeed in higher education.

Next phase of North District housing breaks ground Nov. 8

UC Riverside is beginning construction this fall on a new student housing complex that represents a first-of-its-kind partnership with the Riverside Community College District, or RCCD. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 8 for the North District Phase 2 project, which will add 1,568 new beds in two apartment-style buildings at the northeast corner of Canyon Crest Drive and W. Linden Street.
