Bureau of Meteorology website delivers better access to water information for the Murray Darling Basin

The Bureau of Meteorology has added new features to the Murray–Darling Basin Water Information Portal, a website designed as a central source of water information for the Basin. This is the last of 5 main staged releases, completing the 3-year development of the portal.

Heavy rain and severe thunderstorms across eastern Australia

Persistent, heavy rain continues for parts of southern eastern Australia, including New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria and Queensland.

The rain is being driven onshore by a deep low pressure system which is sitting over New South Wales. This is coupled by a corresponding low in the upper atmosphere which is amplifying the rainfall totals.
