Manage Currents profiles

A Currents profile includes the user's name, biographical information, contact details, and more.If you are an administrator for a Google Workspace domain, you can create or delete Currents profiles for users in your organization.

Notes:

Create Currents profiles

The Currents profile created by an administrator includes only the user’s name. You can optionally add the person’s birth date, which is visible only to the user. People can then update their profile with a profile photo.

Important notes
  • The basic Currents profile created by administrators only includes the user’s name, which is always visible to anyone with the user’s profile URL.
  • The other profile fields can be restricted to your organization’s domain, and even to specific people within the domain. See Turn Currents on or off for users for more information.
  • K–12 education organizations cannot currently create Currents profiles using this feature.

Create Currents profiles for all users in an organizational unit or group

Administrators can change a single setting to automatically create Currents profiles for all users in an organizational unit or group within your domain. When enabled, a Currents profile is created for all current users in the organizational unit or group, and for new users when they are added.

Because this feature automatically creates Currents profiles for all current and future users in the organizational unit, you must verify that all users are 18 years old or older. Users under 18 should be added to a different organizational unit with automatic profile creation turned off.

To create Currents profiles for all users in an organizational unit or group:

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. In the Admin console, go to Menu ""and then"" Appsand thenGoogle Workspaceand thenCurrents.
  3. Click Advanced settings.
  4. Under Profile creation, select Automatically create Currents profiles.
  5. Certify that all users in the organization are over the age of 18 (and that no users under 18 will be added to the organization), and click Apply.
  6. Click Save.

Notes

  • A profile is not created if the user has a public Gmail picture or profile photo in their Album Archive. These users must individually sign up and acknowledge the changes to their photos.
  • Wait up to 48 hours (or longer) for the profiles to be created. Currents profiles are also created when you add new users.
  • A profile is not created if the user previously deleted their Currents profile. This ensures that the user's previously expressed preference is honored.
