Manage Chrome Side panel

In the side panel of your computer, you can find:

Reading list
Bookmarks
History
Google Search

On your computer, open Chrome.
Go to a website.
At the top right, click Side panel .
In the top left of the side panel, click the Down arrow .
Select an option, such as Reading list or Bookmarks.
- If you use other features like Google Lens, more options may be available.

Search web pages with Google Search side panel

With the Google Search side panel, you can access more information about the sites that you browse and the search tools that you use. While on a site, open the Google Search side panel to:

Generate key points from articles and other web pages.

To search a web page with the Google Search side panel:

On your computer, open Chrome .
Go to a website.
At the top right, click Side panel .
At the top left of the Side panel, click the Down arrow .
Select Search.
- To learn more about the text and images that you find, enter keywords from the web page.

Tips:

When you search an image with Google Lens, the search results open in the side panel. Learn how to search the web with images.
When you highlight text, right-click and select Search Google for [word], the results open in the side panel.
- To open results in a new tab, select Search Google for [word] in new tab.

Pin the Google Search icon

On your computer, open Chrome.
Go to a website.
At the top right, click Side panel .
At the top left of the side panel, click the Down arrow .
Select Search.
Next to “Search,” click Pin .

To the left of Side panel , Google Search becomes available.

Unpin the Google Search icon

On your computer, open Chrome.
Go to a website.
To the left of Side panel , click Google Search .
Next to “Search,” click Unpin .

Manage Side panel

To resize Side panel: On the side of the panel, click and hold Drag .
To change the location of the side panel:
1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. Click More Settings Appearance.
3. Under "Side panel," select the side you want the panel to open.
To close Side panel: At the top right, click Close .
