I think he would’ve been a better fit than Nurse. His communist offensive system is what I would envision would work best with this roster. We still wouldn’t have been good but better. People on this subreddit don’t want to admit that while Nurse wasn’t given the best team he still did a legitimately bad job.
How Nurse saw this teams offensive personnel and decided to say “do what you want” without structure is beyond me. Not to mention he ran every single player to the ground where pretty much every other coach manages that better. A young inexperienced bench also probably does better in a different system.
The free-flowing offense has been there since Casey. He was the one who implemented that and that helped build cohesiveness and trust with the demar/kyle era. They had freedom on offense but the team had to buy in and go hard on D.
When Nurse was hired it wasn't a big philosophy change, we just had better personel for it. I don't mind that they tried it with Pascal and Fred for the first 2 years, they deserved that chance, but this last year was just the limit.
