[Wojnarowski] BREAKING: The Suns are planning to hire Frank Vogel as the franchise’s next coach, sources tell ESPN. Sides are starting work on a long-term deal. Vogel brings with him a 2020 NBA title and history of constructing high-level defenses. by PlayaSlayaX in nba

Idk if we were the first to do so, but we were definitely one of the first teams to fire our HC.

I suppose Detroit technically didn’t fire Casey as their HC since he moved to the front office, and I can’t think of any other coaches that got the boot before Nurse after the playoffs started.

Must admit, didn’t actually expect this for Phoenix, don’t even remember seeing Vogel’s name being thrown around in previous discussions off the top of my head.

Pretty sure this also leaves the Raptors as the only team still without a HC at the moment.

[Post Game Thread] The Miami Heat (4-3) stave off infamy and continue their cinderella run, defeating the Boston Celtics (3-4) at the Garden by 103 - 84 thanks to Caleb Martin's 26pts & 9rebs and advance to face the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals by elbenji in nba

Force a Game 7 after going down 0-3 in the series, against a team you were heavily favoured to beat, coming off of two dominant team performances in Games 4 & 5, along with a possible all-time buzzer beater by Derrick White to stave off elimination in Game 6… and the Celtics do THAT.

I was rooting for the Heat in this series, but what the actual fuck was that, Celtics?

Tatum injuring his ankle at the very start of the game is downright awful luck, but nobody else on the team bothered to show up when it mattered most.

(Also, Spo taking a T/O after Boston cut the lead to 18 with less than 4 mins left is absolutely hilarious.)

How does someone turn into a pumpkin this badly in a Game 7 when you’ve just won 3 straight?

Very true, but…

The Panthers had to seriously re-tool their roster from last year and got stuck facing the greatest regular season team in NHL history in round one, and overcome a 3-1 series deficit.

The Heat didn’t have quite as big of a hurdle to overcome on paper; but a lot of the roster looked washed and old as dirt for most of the season, for them to not only overcome the teams in their path on this run but also dominate them in the process is absolutely mind-boggling.

I mean, did you expect this Heat team to be 11-3 in the playoffs so far?

I remember Heat/Raptors/Bulls fans all joking about who would earn the honour of being curb-stomped by the Bucks in round one after you guys lost to the Hawks in the 7/8 play-in game, how quickly things change.

I’d definitely call it one; post-season dominance aside, they did not look like this coming into the playoffs.

I feel like if you went back in time and told this sub or even r/Heat that Miami would be on the verge of sweeping a fully healthy Celtics team in the ECF, you’d be mocked relentlessly.

I’ve never been big on jumping to the nuclear option, but what are the odds Boston decides to really shake things up in the off-season?

Losing Ime sucked for them, but going from a finals appearance to (potentially) getting swept in the conference finals with what is essentially the same roster isn’t a good look.

Oh, this question is if we just magically added him to the roster, not if we traded for him.

That changes things

Very true, worst offender for me is Mibuchi fouling Hyuga on a 3pt attempt, in the closing seconds of the game whilst up by 4.

Absolutely brain-dead play, by a player that’s supposed to be a prodigy.

TBf, the entire Rakuzan/Seirin game has issues like this.

Remember that Kagami spends over half of the Rakuzan/Seirin game in the zone, when every instance before this game had players totally gas out long before that amount of time.

Not to mention the “true zone” only getting brought up and introduced towards the end of the game out of pretty much nowhere.

While the game is still enjoyable; it has ass-pulls galore.

Celtics fans, genuine question here.

In the unlikely event the Celtics lose both of the upcoming games in Miami and get swept, do you think there’s any chance at all that Mazulla gets axed?

Celtics saw the ridicule the Bruins got for losing embarrassingly to a southern-Florida team this season and decided to get in on the action.
