A mashup is a song or composition created by blending two or more pre-recorded songs, usually by overlaying the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the instrumental track of another.
If you aren't sure if it's a mashup, listen to it without video. If you can tell it's two or more songs together, then it's a mashup.
Medleys, I.E strings of songs with 'transition periods', are not considered mashup content.

Use the correct format for mashup link posts.
The format for mashup links is:

Tags and comments are optional, but dash, parentheses, and spaces are required. If you do not include tags, it is a mashup.
We recommend using the [Meme] tag for Soundclowns/memes, [Album] for albums, [Mix] for long mashup mixes, and [Demo] for WIP/demos so they can be found. [Mashup] tag is optional.
Ex. Carlos Serrano - Something About The Fire (Daft Punk, Adele)

Requests must go in the (pinned) request thread.
All requests go in the request thread that is on r/mashups. Do not make a request thread. Your request post will be removed and you'll be banned for 30 days minimum.

Use the appropriate tag for posts not linking to a mashup.
The format for other mashup-related content is: [Tag] Description
If you're submitting a post that isn't a mashup, use one of the following tags: [Discussion], [Meta], [News], [Contest], [Resource], [Meme], [Album], [Mix], [Year End], [Year-End], or [Demo].
For example: [Discussion] Where else do you find mashups? [Demo] I'm using MONTERO. Can you check if this part is in key?

One mashup, mix, demo, or album per 12 hours. Exception: Staging.
You are only allowed to post one song, demo, mix, or album every 12 hours. Any more and they will all be removed. EXCEPTION: Mod staging for a new topic.
If you make fake accounts, all accounts and posts will be permabanned.

Do NOT post native Reddit video that rehosts someone else's mashup. Link to the original instead.
All too often, social media posts on video-centric platforms include videos with the mashup in the background, which takes away views and visibility for the original artist. Posting the original source ensures the mashup artist gets the proper visibility they deserve.

Respect your fellow mashup artists and fans. No personal attacks.
Mashups are posted by mashup artists from newcomers to pros. As such, we strongly encourage upvoting relevant posts to lift other users up rather than tear everyone down, especially new posts.
With skill level in mind, constructive criticism is also strongly encouraged. After all, it's how we improve. However, we ask that users direct criticism at the track, and not the user making the track or other users.
In general, personal attacks or offensive remarks towards other users are not allowed.
