Feeling frustrated. Thanks Best Buy (reddit.com)

I haven’t been able to buy a single 151 booster bundle. (Yeah sure I can pay $40 on eBay, but I’m not going to support the very people that prevent me from buying one at msrp).

I waited for today for the Best Buy Drops to try to get one and was faced with multiple errors despite being in line for it and was just ultimately unable to get one.

Do you think Pokemon will make more of them or is this just it?

This product is so bizarre. Like scalpers are snatching then all up and selling for $40, but who is actually buying them fir that price? At least where I am every store is so stocked up with 151 that buying booster bundles afterwards makes no sense.

You gotta understand that just cause it’s readily available in your stores doesn’t mean everyone else is that lucky. I literally drive across the country and I stop at a target every night just for research and some places are very well stocked I even found booster bundles at target on 4 different occasions but I’ve also been to areas where the card section is ravaged, I even been to targets and Walmarts that have told me because of theft they don’t carry them in their location anymore so some guys out in rural America can only do resellers.

But you can usually get a product online that give you a cheaper per pack price vs paying $40+for a booster box. At msrp it's the best deal but impossible to get at msrp so personally I grab a poster bundle or alakazam/zapdos box if I want packs

Poster bundles are such a good deal and surprisingly I see a lot of them in stores all the promo boxes are great deals but to answer your question I have no idea why I would think that they simply don’t know about other sites with great deals.

Any patterns you've noticed with regards to regions? Which areas are most ravaged vs most unpicked?

Not looking for specific places. Just general like Midwest / south / western / city / suburban / rural etc

Honestly it’s really the big cities that the scalpers hit or thieves hit, once you get on the outskirts slightly you start seeing some more stock in Kansas I actually saw a Pokémon Go ETB in a target like last week, they had an insane stock probably 20 of each paldea evolved, obsedian flames, 151, and silver tempest I do this cause someone on this sub said they found evolving skies etbs at their local target lol. Went to one store I can’t remember where but literally all they had was vivid voltage lol like 30 vivid voltage etbs and that’s it.

I don't live in a big city and 151 ebts are very rare and booster boxes has been impossible despite having like 3 walmarts, 3 best buys, 2 gamestops, target, Costco and Sam's club within 20 miles.

Sure obsidian flames and paldea and some Sword and Shield can be found but I thought this was about 151

I'm the same. I've been 2 hours out of the city in every direction and I only got lucky once at a meijer with booster box. Other than that, I've rarely seen any 151 in stores.

Obviously there’s lots of variables that go into play like im sure some stores i am stopping by the same day as the restock etc but some smaller cities probably aren’t allocated the same amount of product as the bigger cities, my best advice is ask your local store what day the restock happens I guarentee your scalpers in your area already know the schedule. The Walmart by me I was there while he was stocking 151 and literally the next day it was completely empty it’s all about time

I’m in a smaller town. I’ve seen many 151 booster boxes, Elite trainer boxes, heck even whole cases of tins available.

You're definitely in the minority then especially if it's at msrp. I've seen the occasional tin but for more than msrp by a good bit and EBTs can be found but usually for $55 so over msrp. Zero 151 booster bundles though.

Correction one shop has them but only sells them by the case which is out of my budget

Yeah. They get cleaned up by scalpers once in a while but they are usually stocked and never over MSRP. I like to buy for my kids and only buy a few to make sure they are available for others as well. Nothing pisses me off more than scalpers.

        I live in the DMV, and I haven't seen any booster bundles in the wild at all (Walmart, target, gamestop or best buy and I have like 2 of each in a 5 mile radius.) Last Friday was the absolute first time I've seen any 151 in stock anywhere (my local target actually had like 10 elite trainer boxes, 2 ultra premiums, 5 alakazam and 5 zapdos boxes.)

        I see people with their hauls and it's just not possible here unless I pay scalper prices. The only boxes I've been able to open before Friday was the 1 ultra premium I managed to pre-order.

          They probably are focusing on getting ready for the new shiny set at this point. I think they just ship out the backup inventory they have sitting in warehouses but I don't think they have been printing a lot of 151. Stock while not impossible to find for some 151 skus isn't like super plentiful either.

          I wish we had more insight on printing and all that. But wouldn't surprise me if they are printing off the new set now and loading up for stock of that and then after that they resume 151 printing

          If you're investing, single boosters are dumb, gotta get the booster bundle display box sealed. Even so, the UPC will be the best investment for the 151 set. More cards for your money, especially when on sale at $100 or less, plus the three solid promo cards. Right now the booster bundle display box and UPC are similar investments, but long term the UPC takes the cake, even if just by a bit.

            I've seen one booster bundle. I stumbled across it at Forbidden Planet in London. I got lucky. When I left there was one pack left, another guy got a box at the same time. I haven't seen them since. I've found one small tin since then. I've seen the big boxes, but I'm not spending £50 on pokemon cards..

            It's sold out everywhere in my city in Canada and this guy is trying to sell 10 for 70CAD each which is more than double the MRSP... He can eat a Drowzee's nose !!!

            A lot of people close to me buy every pack of cards they can get just to sell them on TikTok. I live in Mississippi so it is hard enough to get cards especially when any of the places i drive they already went to. They also pay people to grab a huge supply and send it through the mail to them. One guy i know was paid a good amount to go ransack every card he could get for someone that sells on TikTok not from this state. It is either that or people break open boxes to steal promos or packs and i can’t get them because they are damaged. All this paired with the high prices make the hobby almost impossible for me to collect.

            This is the collector's hold item since we don't have booster boxes of Collection sets. The quo is to buy ETBs / posters or Tins for ripping and B-Bundles for holding.

            It’s becoming a hobby for adults.

            In my area, the only place you’ll find it in the wild is Pokémon vending machines. Target doesn’t even carry cards. Walmart is ravaged and has junk sets (if that) , gamestop sold out. If you have cash, and no plastic credit card, then the only place to buy with cash is an LCS/LGS where they’re marked up.

            Oh yeah, and FB Marketplace .

                Every area is different, but I walked into my local Target yesterday and they had 151 ETB's and ultra-premium collection's stacked way up. Oddly enough, I went looking for tins, but there has been a run on tins lately and they were almost all picked over. I caved and bought a UPC.

                Because Best Buy online is home to the biggest number of bot scalpers of any website. PS5s, Graphic Cards, Pokemon, iPhones, anything and everything that the bots scan as lower priced than amazon and have high demand get bought out INSTANTLY. they dont need to sit and wait and refresh a webpage or click links or anything, they do everything instantly via script. So no its not someone quicker, its bots, and it will always be bots on Best Buy.

                This sucks. If it's any consolation I've opened a ton of booster bundles and each one sucked. You might be better off picking up an ETB or 2 since they tend to be discounted pretty nicely from time to time? Otherwise definitely recommend singles for this particular set.

                If it’s any consolation 151 ETBs can currently be had for $42 - $45 at some places, which is only like $0.30 more per pack than the bundles.

                These booster bundles are a weird aberration that will just continue to drop in price as reprints continue

                That’s something like $0.50 more per pack than the MSRP of the bundle but still not a bad alternative. It’s certainly way cheaper per pack than the $40 market price of the bundle.

                The Macy's website indeed still has ETBs for $46 a pop and Macy's is also a retailer that regularly appears on shopping portals if the cash back helps make a difference.

                  I don’t think that’s the case. I believe they’re printed at a different printer than other product and they seem to just have less capacity. You can tell because the wrappers actually look different on BB packs vs others.

                  They have been completely delisted on GameStop a few days ago, and weeks ago on a couple of other box stores. Many of my LGS state the distribitors have delisted and aren't taking requests for them

                  With the pitiful amount on Bestbuys' DROP and the above information, I'm inclined to believe the booster bundles are done, aside from a large reprint.

                  I actually got to order one. Only issue I ran into was that I had to keep pressing add to cart until it finally put me in line. After that, they sent me a code to verify over text. There was a limit of 1 per account.

They put of inventory, let a bunch of people buy them and charge their credit cards, when there was actually no inventory and then everyone had to wait god knows how long for the refund.                   Why is it so difficult to create parameters that can be taken into consideration when validating people for a special drop like this? Things like account length, duplicate shipping address/names, and if a person already bought the item or not in their account history? I feel like that would clear out A LOT of people double dipping and actually let people who haven’t been able to buy one, get one.

                  Why not just pay $45-50 for the ETB and get an extra 3 packs? Scalpers and buyers make no sense when it comes to this set, they’re up charging and people willing to pay $40 for the 6 packs bundle when the ETBs are only like $10 more and you get more packs, promo card + extras.

                    Yeah Best Buy will hold things in your cart for 10 minutes. People getting the drop after it says “sold out” probably stayed in line and got one from an expired cart. Always stay in line just in case.

                    I don’t know if it’s because of where I live, but the Zapdos ex and alakazam ex bundles, as well as the mew bundle are overflowing here. I tend to buy the Zapdos or alakazam bundles for booster packs as the prices here are not inflated. I could send links to where I buy mine if shipping is not a too big issue.

                    If y’all haven’t figured out that scalpers use bots that flood the website then you’re behind the times. Frustrations are understandable, but know what you’re up against to prevent unnecessary anger. These bots can complete checkouts faster than you can load a page and put one item in your cart. The waiting line is even more atrocious since they aren’t humans sitting there wasting their time. It’s a total shit show, and I feel for those that can’t get the product because of these scumbags.

                    Why are people so hot on these? It’s just six packs of 151. At the end of the day it’ll be worth no more then whatever 6 packs will be worth 5,10,15, or 20 years from now. I’ve never seen them on the shelves, but I’ve also never cared. I’ll buy an ETB or a couple poster, binder or promo boxes. It just doesn’t seem to make much sense to be getting so stressed out over a box of six packs of 151 when you could easily walk into target, Walmart or your local LCS and pick up packs without the headache.

                    Meh all the recent sets are very bad. I can spend 500$ and not even get 10$ in value. Ever since Covid . Rare cards are impossible to pull for me. 151 is definitely better than most of the other sets but pull rates are still trash. I spent 150$ on day 1 of 151 and only pulled 5$ in value.

Can't stand chasing these restocks, but if past sets are any indication then there's going to be plenty once the next big thing happens. I FOMO'd into overpaying for Shining Fates when it seemed scarce, and now it's everywhere. I did the same for Celebrations, and besides the UPC it was all pretty plentiful a few months later. Hoping that after the holidays I can snag some 151 for MSRP or on sale.

I'd pay $120 for 24 booster packs. 4 in a box and 6 Zapdose boxes in a packed box. $120 after tax and shipping. They are reselling but it's still cheaper than msrp

                    Honestly at this point your better off buying the singles you want. All but the IRs and some full arts are dirt cheap. Except for metapod, I’m sure you can easily find plenty of listings you want.

                    Now for the big boys aka the sar’s, yeah it’s gona be easier to buy them single. Zard is 110, blasty goes for ~45, and venasurar is 35-40(?). Pikachu is ~25$. You might find them at cons, but I haven’t been to one so idk the pricing.

                    I know scalpers are hunting them down, but if you can honestly wait till after Christmas, you might have better luck.
