Occupiers admit hydroelectric power plant blown up by Russian sabotage group by dead_russian_kids in worldnews

[–]Redpin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The difference between this incident and something like Nordstream, is that sabotaging Nordstream had clear benefits for Ukraine. It hurt Russia financially, and forced the West's hand in looking for an alternative to Russian gas.

There's no Ukrainian benefit to sabotaging this dam. They don't need the propaganda push, they have the narrative already. And this is not on the scale of playing the blame game with missles landing in Poland, it doesn't make sense for Ukraine to displace thousands of civilians for optics.

Plus this would mean a pretty complicated mission in a Russian controlled area. This would have been much more involved than putting a bunch of explosives on a truck crossing the bridge from Crimea -which again, was strategically valuable for Ukraine to do.

Air Quality Warning: Significant threat to life by boopyboop321 in toronto

[–]Redpin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally ACs intake from the inside and exhaust to the outside.

It's more efficient to take internal air which is likely lower temp. than to try and pull in air from outside that could be like 40 degrees.

PGA Tour agrees to merge with Saudi-backed rival LIV Golf by nolesfan2011 in sports

[–]Redpin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right. It's also a much safer investment. Look at what happened with Huawei. The US government can threaten tariffs and bans on virtually any goods and services, but these sports leagues are de facto monopolies, I don't think the US can pull the rug out from under them.

School district bans Bible after “indecent” materials complaint. A parent submitted eight pages of passages in the Bible that showed it was inappropriate for kids. by southpawFA in politics

[–]Redpin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ultimately this is not good. The goal for conservatives it to destroy schools. You fight the ban, not fight for "their books" to be banned as well. They don't want schools anyway. So now you have kids going to a school on the road to having all books banned, and then kids are dragged to church by their parents where there is a book they can read, and it's the bible.

The parents will make sure their children are exposed to the bible, their aim is to ensure their children are not exposed to anything else. Banning the bible is playing into their hands.

Hate in Ontario is at a ‘linchpin moment, we’re either going to keep it in the grenade or we’re going to see some things explode’ by OrdinaryCanadian in onguardforthee

I misread "Here in Ontario" I wasn't sure if this was about housing, food, or healthcare. Now we've got fucking Nazis to worry about as well...

On the bright side, the skinheads were really bad in the 90s and then went away (once the RCMP was revealed to be propping them up and it caused a huge scandal).
