This is not a padlock. This is a metal knocking handle.

[–]Crisplocket1489 455 points456 points  (12 children)

I thought it was a pull handle for some reason

[–]Velocicornius 218 points219 points  (10 children)

kinda the same thing. you can either pull or use it to knock

[–]TactlessTortoise 119 points120 points  (9 children)

Which is just pulling indecisively several times in a row.

[–]Velocicornius 37 points38 points  (0 children)

pulling and releasing multiple times

[–]Archolm 14 points15 points  (7 children)

But if you grasp the handle and then knock are you not slamming your fist against the door at that point?

[–]That2Things 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the shape of the handle and the size of your fist.

[–]MistahButt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They typically have a metal piece that the ring is meant to strike that's thick enough to let you not hit your fingers if your hand is positioned correctly. Then again if it was a knocker instead of a ring handle it'd probably be centered

[–]Velocicornius 3 points4 points  (3 children)

No, usually we use those pointy sticks on the end of our hands to grab the handle without touching the door

[–]SpaceBus1 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Minecraft hands don't have any appendages.

[–]Velocicornius 2 points3 points  (1 child)

how do you hold stuff then?

[–]Weary_Drama1803City builder 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The spruce door literally has one too, although less oblong

[–]Cubscouter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is not the Empire state building. That is the entirety of the state of California

[–]Wasteak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't believe 6k+ people didn't see that....

[–]Orisphera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/uj I couldn't find what either means

[–]BogdogNEVERDIES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i guess

[–]Lonely_Diamond1240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree=TRUE

[–]TheRealSU24 755 points756 points  (35 children)

That's a handle

[–]cyrobite- 194 points195 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's obviously that old school metal handle before bells we're popularized

[–]MGMAX 336 points337 points  (17 children)

It would be cool if copper doors were able to be locked/unlocked with redstone signal, akin to copper lantern being able to turn on/off. It would make it much more than just a reskin.

[–]BenjaLP211 102 points103 points  (6 children)

So kind of a mix of redstone activating and manually activating doors

[–]Dylan1234no 42 points43 points  (5 children)

Any door can be opened with redstone…

[–]DisturbedPuppy 24 points25 points  (2 children)

They mean turning manual functionality on and off. I don't think you can use redstone to prevent manually using normal doors, can you?

[–]Dylan1234no 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh… no, you can’t but that would be awesome.

[–]BenjaLP211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean redstone activation for copper door would act as a manual one, i didnt say other doors couldnt be opened with redstone

[–]TactlessTortoise 19 points20 points  (1 child)

It would also thematically fit with this whole binary persistence they've got going on with these new redstone shinies.

[–]Jackmember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is... would the door glow when locked or when open?

[–]Vulpes_macrotisCubical Sphere 22 points23 points  (2 children)

I mean all wooden doors are just reskins and nobody hates on them. So even if this will be just a reskin, I see no point in being mad about it. Though I do expect they do something with these doors. They are too cool to be just reskins.

[–]ThatGamerkidYT 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Because copper is not wood

[–]manofwaromega 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I mean a wood door working like another wood door makes sense, but a metal door working like a wood door and not another metal door doesn't make sense

[–]nnoxie_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kinda like dripleaves

[–]message_me_ur_blank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make it just another server lagging machine.

[–]WanganTunedKeiCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically Supplementaries gold doors

[–]Mekelaxo🦀 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would the implement that though? If you make it like that then you wouldn't be a able to open the door with redstone since every redstone signal would be interpreted as locking or unlocking the door

[–]Hyperon_Ion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd point you to the minecraft suggestions subreddit where it not for the fact Mojang's distanced themselves from Reddit.

It'd make copper doors the perfect thing for locked rooms in dungeons.

[–]RandomCaveOfMonstersI will never forget the crabs 07 164 points165 points  (12 children)

With iron doors, the hinges could just be too tight to move by hand, and they're motor activated.

[–]ShadowTheChangeling 60 points61 points  (1 child)

I think the old sprite atleast was also missing a handle

[–]plscome2brazil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old sprite was just flat

[–]AmazingCman 36 points37 points  (9 children)

Funny thing is that a copper door would be heavier than an iron door with the same dimensions since copper is more dense than iron.

[–]RandomCaveOfMonstersI will never forget the crabs 07 13 points14 points  (0 children)

perhaps the hinges are built with that in mind?

[–]Tommytoastjes 14 points15 points  (1 child)

It doesnt have to be solid however

[–]Fine-Blackberry-1793 8 points9 points  (0 children)

*Looks at the crafting recipe...

[–]DonutCola 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Yeah but copper shit is not made out of copper. Copper shit is usually super think like a gutter or or a standing seam roof. Copper is very rarely utilized as solid thick material. Pretty sure a giant piece of copper would cause a lot of interference

[–]SendMindfucks 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Well, considering the crafting recipe is 6 blocks of copper and nothing else, that’s how it’s being utilized here.

[–]DonutCola -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Dude shut the fuck up you don’t hear that enough

[–]SendMindfucks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jeez, calm down

[–]west1132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, what the fuck? That other redditor didn't say anything even slightly offensive, and you went completely off the handle. And they even had a fair point.

[–]Mekelaxo🦀 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who says it's a solid door?

[–]thinman12345Professional Idiot 53 points54 points  (1 child)

It should be redstone to unlock then it acts like a wooden door until the redstone signal is gone.

[–]SuperCat76 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of the inverse. Redstone signal to lock it. But either way would give it unique functionality.

[–]GalaxyPlayz_ 33 points34 points  (4 children)

Even if that's not a lock, I still think it would be cool to have more than one door that only opens with redstone.

[–]Wave_Table 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Just craft 2 iron doors.

[–]GalaxyPlayz_ 2 points3 points  (2 children)

you cant. it gives you three.

[–]Vinnyz__ 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Backdoor!

[–]GalaxyPlayz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats illegal

[–]binhan123ad 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Copper door would be a great option for me as an Village architect kind of player. I played on hardcore and sometime, zombie would kill my villager when ever I mining through the night. I never want to use Iron Door nor invert the door since it ruin the building harmony so having an Copper door seem to be a great addition.

[–]meexley2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But that’s a knocker?

[–]memecraft0309 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Would be cool if to open it it had to have a specific strength of Redstone to open, life having a signal go into the side and then have one of the same strength go into the other side, idk how they would implement this but would be cool

[–]Fine-Blackberry-1793 2 points3 points  (1 child)

And the more it rusts the stronger the signal needs to be

[–]Otherwise-Captain688 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a good idea. would allow for some really cool puzzles involving weighted pressure plates and levers

[–]welivewelovewedie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can do it with a single comparator though. It's more flexible this way too

[–]Nickingoo1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a handle not a padlock

[–]BogdogNEVERDIES 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that's a handle bro

[–]3honeybadgersinacoat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is no padlock....

[–]No-Reality-2744 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What padlock?

[–]NaanBreadEnjoyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude doesn't know what a door handle is

[–]ProbablyNotTheCocoa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s… not a padlock

[–]HumanOverseerCreeper? Aww man! 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well this meme is just straight up wrong lol

[–]bob1111bob 11 points12 points  (6 children)

Regardless of OP misidentifying the handle copper doors should work like iron ones

[–]binhan123ad 4 points5 points  (5 children)

I think it could be better with the "Rusting" property of Copper block. Maybe the more it got rusty, the more redstone signal required it to be unlocked, which could be useful when you want an contraption that operate differently through time.

[–]MeetWorking2039 1 point2 points  (4 children)

The copper doesn’t rust it oxidizes

[–]binhan123ad 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Wait...aren't oxidation process is what make it rusty? Both are ,in fact, the same except the "Oxidized" word just make it more formal while "Rust" word is just common sense.

Cu + O2 =(Heat & Moisture)=> CuO

The chemical fomular above is Oxidation Process but it also can be call Rusting. Would love to know more.

[–]TheFrostyFazArmadil*o lover 9 points10 points  (0 children)

[–]Ramenoodlez1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a door knocker to me

[–]MR_R_TheOdd1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a knocking handle

[–]Toad_MigoadPetition to add toads to minecraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the handle which is why we can open it

[–]Ant_Fucker69_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try pushing a door made from solid iron, also it isnt a lock

[–]Peanuthead50 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Can we have keys in Minecraft?

[–]OpBoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be so cool, and a great addition to servers

[–]Pixithepika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that just a round handle?

[–]HarrySRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it a door knocker or a pull handle?

[–]tankfarter2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Master lock can be opened with another master lock

[–]Ozark-the-artist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How in tarnation did you see this huge empty thing as a padlock?

[–]ken_kaneki07Custom user flair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People Just can't stop complaining

[–]Lzinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be cool if they made it so when powered it is locked

[–]Crisplocket1489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if zombies can break it down then it's fine with me

[–]manofwaromega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised it isn't an iron door variant. All the wood types are wood doors but you'd think a metal door would work like the other metal door

[–]Elad_2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a padlock, it's a door knocker

[–]Drag0n_TamerAK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a door knocker

[–]Scar-PredatorTECHNOBLADE NEVER DIES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just from what is said in the image, copper door seems far better than iron ones.

[–]DroppedDesert62_YT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that to be one of those door knockers rich people got.

[–]ForxFort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be great if only the the most oxidated Doors needs redstone to open, like its too oxidated to open manually and need energy

[–]Falitoty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a suggestion in a comment section : the 2 less oxidized doors should be openable like any wooden doors, but the 2 most oxidized on should act like iron doors.

[–]Teleform 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think that's a door knocker.

[–]UntoldTemple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like one of them on the doors rich folks have

[–]Silent_guy__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iron is heavy

[–]Sweedo17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not A FUCKING PADLOCK!!

[–]Mephil_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a knocker. Actually I'm pretty sure it is, who the fuck puts a padlock on a door.

[–]ThatSmartIdiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats not a padlock you playmobil ken-obi doll it's one of em old handles you use to knock (like a bar version of the spruce door's)

Or maybe it isnt and im the doll

[–]stillwaitingformilk 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What cannon event did I miss

[–]spookytoad2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

1.21 snapshot

[–]stillwaitingformilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy Jesus finally copper has SOME other use

[–]vGustaf-K -1 points0 points  (1 child)

should work like a copper bulb. if it's powered it becomes locked then if it's powered again it becomes a normal door

[–]PepoppCustom user flair -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no lol

[–]Miggix13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why they don’t make a door with code number ?

[–]Quazar125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be a handle bot to be fair it also looks like the iron door has a handle

[–]SnooDogs3400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might just be updating the iron door graphic in a later snapshot

[–]Vulpes_macrotisCubical Sphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minecraft community when new block is just added and they ask WHY NO FUNCTIONALITY. Bro. It is possible that they want to make key doors with that. Bu they didn't code it yet or don't have a consensus about how to do that. Because key doors that can be easily destroyed won't be good key doors. Also is it even padlock?

[–]MiniStarPlanetBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can’t believe i’m just now realizing that an iron door is just a white oak door

[–]stillwaitingformilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait there are copper items?

[–]Ccjjkk95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still think we need copper keys

It could also work like a lode stone so assigung a compass to a stone is like key to a door

[–]Crimsonerex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im more happy for a steampunk designs working now better with the new blocks than concerned how they work.

[–]AceGamerWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next is the golden door. It can't be opened.

[–]DealAccomplished4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iron is heavier

[–]Ofiotaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copper door need to be a mix of manual or redston

[–]Hopeful-Bowl-8967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it would be cool to make iron doors and trapdoors open with a right click like every other door and then make a "secure" version of every door that can only be opened with redstone (or maybe just for metal doors)

[–]codyrussoStoneBrick Enjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought the logic is the iron door is much heavier than and harder than the wooden door do it need some kind of power to operate.

[–]SwartyNine2691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad logic

[–]boltzmannman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they had made the Copper Door/Trapdoor work like the Copper Bulb. Would be another very useful redstone component.

[–]paweld2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is nlocking iron door... they literally doesn't have a handle

EDIT: They didnt have a handle before texture update. Why do they added handle to them, it doesn't make sense?

[–]CrownedVanguardr/penguinempire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP doesn’t know what a knocker is 💀

[–]Space19723103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and if we had gotten copper golem, we could have had doormen/butlers who opened them for us...

[–]LumberWand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were only introduced last week. We will probably be seeing a change that redstone pulses changes their state to open/close them similar to the copper bulb responding to pulses instead of constant power

[–]derpy_derp15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I þink that's a door knocker

[–]Alaskan_Thunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

redstone = electric, there is obviously a electronic latch

[–]GLDN5444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully, copper doors are zombie proof

[–]Academic_Initial_643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

steel

[–]Dotcaprachiappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be cool if it's locked by default and you can unlock it by powering it.

[–]Cheese-hole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron is heavier than copper

[–]Brromo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, have you ever used a padlock?

[–]Halokojm_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a masterlock

[–]eliavhaganav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need lock picking lawyer

[–]Inner-Doughnut3075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be cool if copper doors were like iron doors in that they would open with a redstone signal, but only needed a pulse to open and then stay that way like that other new copper block. Right now it's just a weird wooden door

[–]Scared-Cloud996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's a hand door that can't be broken by mobs? Except maybe explosion? Idk

[–]BobZygota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redstone should be able to lock the door so it cannot be opened and the unlock so it can be open by hand

[–]Yugix1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron door heavy tho

[–]AreebJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the copper door was toggleable like the light. Also what is up with the copper stuff using blocks? A copper door costs almost a stack of copper.

[–]Crafterz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

btw iron doors didn’t have handle before texture update which makes more sense

[–]Patient_Weakness3866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbf, if the iron door had a lock its not like it would make more sense or anything.

[–]TheHarshShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a handle. Why would there be a random padlock on a door BIGGER than the handle?

[–]BLACKDEATH354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copper doors? Are those coming?

[–]Dry_Communication403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait I saw a lock.. maybe keys will be added to Minecraft?

[–]Li5UU34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must say it would be cool to have doors with key's without any redstone or a buttons next to it

[–]CountertopPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be cool if as the copper door oxidizes, it takes multiple attempts to open it. Like the regular copper door will open 100% of the time while the oxidized copper door would open 10% of the time.

[–]MEGATH0XICC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New t-flip-flop block?

[–]Choice_Bar2324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i thought that was a knocker

[–]gravity--falls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao how on earth is that a padlock.

[–]Bionic165_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should work like an iron door with a built in T-flip-flop, similar to the copper bulbs.

[–]Ricckkuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowkey, copper doors should've been opened by a cooper key

[–]Chips-Ahoy_McCoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping that it would be like an iron door so I can steal a village house and not have to waste my precious iron in early game

[–]xCBHx_DJSummit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stupidity in this post caused some of my braincells to commit seppuku

[–]Gal-XD_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is also 10x more expensive

[–]IsOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of you have soft spots on your heads irl I swear

[–]Chron0ss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red stone pulse should lock copper doors, that would be awesome

[–]Th3Glutt0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a key permanently attached to your hand
