What is this?

This website compiles information gathered from releases, books, articles, and internet websites to form a near complete discography of the Bob Last empire. There are holes in the information I've been able to gather; releases I've missed and releases I don't have and can't comment on. If you'd like to help update the page, please look at the contact section below. Thanks.
Scanning the 12" records is not an easy task with the scanner I have access to. If you have any of these records, have access to a scanner that is large enough to scan them in one go, and feel like contributing to the site, please do.
I finally switched the site over to php to make it run smoother and be easier to update. also, since people are actually looking at this site now, i'll invite anyone interested, to contact me about trading mix-tapes or records or whatnot.

FAST Product earcom pop:aural misc

Fast Product

If you count the official releases, I think Fast's total is only 11 [plus the 3 Earcom compilations]. [I'm missing info on FAST 11; email me if you have any info on releases.] Fast Product released the debuts of Gang of Four, the Mekons, Human League, 2.3 [in fact, their only release], and Scars [in fact, their only good release]. As well, FAST 9, the Earcom series, compiled amazing postpunk from all around the world. And it's more than just good music, it's completely fetishist-indulging artwork. Awesome design, simply put.

Pop Aural

Soon after the licensing of the Dead Kennedy's 7" for the UK, Fast Product closed its doors. Bob Last then started pop:aural [I've seen pop:aural written of as being Jo Callo's project, but I think mistakenly so]. Again, this label released little more than a handful of releases. None of the acts on the label went on to be huge stars in the same way the alumni of Fast Product did; but there is a lot of good music and maybe even nicer artwork.

Miscellaneous Releases/Nonreleases

Simultaneous to pop:aural, there seems to have been an American venture called Fast America. This label released for the US markets a compilation of the Fast Product releases called Mutant Pop (released on PVC) which is similar to the earlier Fast comp on EMI. Also, it released a Fire Engines compilation. I don't know if it released anything else. The Fire Engines LP is FPA 002 and Mutant Pop doesn't have a release number, so it's conceivable there as it at least one further release.

There is also a "nonreleased" Human League cassette on Fast Product. I don't want to call it "unreleased" because it was psuedo-released in a very DIY way (see below).
