Waterpark

Royal Trux have been here before. There are times when I really like their sleazy, Stones-on-speed rock, led by Jennifer Herrema's hotwired throaty vocals. This is one of my favourite songs of theirs, from 1999's Veterans Of Disorder album- Waterpark.

I don't know what the waterparks Jennfier and Neil used to go to are like. We've got two round here (Sale Waterpark pictured above and Chorlton Waterpark). Both are a bit disappointing.

Cheap Wine Time

Off out tonight, into town for birthday drinks with some friends. I think we're off to the Northern Quarter. I complained a while ago that Manchester now has more than four quarters, most of them branded areas to sell expensive properties and lifestyles, but someone pointed out that quarter probably comes from the French word 'quartier' meaning district. Ho hum.

This song- Cheap Wine Time- is from RTX, Jennifer Herrema's post- Royal Trux band. Warning- features extensive guitar soloing. In a very rough and ready way.

Dirty

Royal Trux were a duo, Neil Hagarty and Jennifer Herrema, who sprung/staggered forth from Washington DC garage band Pussy Galore. They formed Royal Trux while a couple, recorded several albums of sleazy, druggy US alt-rock (isn't the alt prefix horrible?) and were briefly quite rated and fashionable (before drugs and then splitting up did for them). They had a song called Waterpark which I think I've got on 7" which sounded a bit like Exile On Main Street era Stones but hot-wired on speed with a girl screeching on vox. Or Exile played at 45rpm. Which might be worth trying. Somehow they got remixed by Jagz Kooner, one of the other two in Sabres Of Paradise. I haven't heard this for some time and it's good- when Jagz brings the guitars in it's a like being hit by a weather front.
