Blutengel - Child Of Glass

Blutengel was formed in 1998 after Chris Pohl had decided to give up the preceding project, Seelenkrank due to contractual problems. Just as its predecessor, Blutengel uses melodious electronic tunes in combination with both male and female voices. The lyrics are primarily in German and/or English and mixed between male and female vocals paired with electronic sounds and with songs often focusing on all aspects of love, from the tragedy of hopeless romance all the way to the more animal aspects of desire.

The first album Child of Glass, released in early 1999 and soon conquered the clubs and the hearts of the already existing fan community but also attracted a huge number of new fans with songs like "Weg Zu mir" and "Beauty of Suffering". Kati Roloff and Nina Bendigkeit were responsible for the female vocals at that time. However, although the album was still present in the minds of the people, things became quiet for the project itself for quite a long time.

The String Quartet - Tribute to The Smiths

While these are instrumental chamber arrangements of classic Smiths songs, the arrangements are still colored most by the hangdog melancholy of Morrissey, rather than any afterglow of Johnny Marr's guitar workouts. You can almost hear his self-obsessed croon floating behind the violins in "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out," "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others," and "This Charming Man," while "How Soon Is Now" is revealed to be rather boring without Marr's classic guitar line. The Vitamin label has even done a respectable job of replicating the Smiths' famous cover-star album art, with its sepia boxer photo.

:Wumpscut: - Wreath Of Barbs

:wumpscut:'s distinct, dark electro sound has been such a force in the industrial scene that it has become a reference point to describe other acts. Characteristically dark yet never quite standing still, Rudy Ratzinger's inflicted expressions bind together anguished synths and a vocal style that is the voice of an imagined genocide. This is the shadowed corner in which Wreath of Barbs lurks.Ratzinger finds new ways to torture his hardware by walking a path between :wumpscut:'s earlier, bleak electro sound; the noisier feel of releases such as Embryodead; and a new glimmer in the darkness. "Opening the Gates of Hell" is an expected :wumpscut: crafting of rough electro and punishing beats painted over with something goth and could be opening the gates if it was meaner and had teeth. :wumpscut: depart from formula, with the (deservedly) title track "Wreath of Barbs" presenting more than the usual routine — the sonorous bass and slow avalanche tempo impel the track into a beautiful disquiet. "Deliverence" is likewise a commanding track, operating in a smoother dancebeat territory than usual for :wumpscut:.Unfortunately, Wreath of Barbs is not just about :wumpscut: hitting new heights. The addition of Aleta Welling's female goth-esque vocals is an experiment that will only work well for the conditioned :wumpscut: fan, and then only some of the time. "Dr. Thodt" is musically an interesting enough track, but the misplacement of the vocals and uninspired lyrics together relegate it to the filler track category. "Line of Corpses" suffers even more, with even less happining lyrically and musically and both vocalists unable to save the track. The better formula would seem to be to leave the vocals at the minimum and work up the music — the heavy synths of "Troops Under Fire," reminiscent of a veteran working over early Mentallo & the Fixer, do not lie. All of this makes Wreath of Barbs a bipolar release of peaks and troughs. There is no question that when it's on, it is some of :wumpscut:'s finer vintage. When it is all averaged out, Wreath of Barbs continues the tradition well — except with more than the a few memorable moments for those who are up to the task.

Siouxsie & The Banshees - Seven Year Itch

Siouxsie and the Banshees were among the longest-lived and most successful acts to emerge from the London punk community; over the course of a career that lasted two decades, they evolved from an abrasive, primitive art punk band into a stylish, sophisticated unit that even notched a left-field Top 40 hit.

Throughout its numerous lineup changes and textural shifts, the group remained under the leadership of vocalist Siouxsie Sioux, born Susan Dallion on May 27, 1958. She and the Banshees' initial lineup emerged from the Bromley Contingent, a notorious group of rabid Sex Pistols fans; inspired by the growing punk movement, Dallion adopted the name Siouxsie and formed the Banshees in September 1976. In addition to bassist Steven Severin and guitarist Marco Perroni, the band included drummer John Simon Ritchie, who assumed the name Sid Vicious; they debuted later that year at the legendary Punk Festival held at London's 100 Club, where their entire set consisted of a savage, 20-minute rendition of "The Lords Prayer."

Soon after, Vicious joined the Sex Pistols, while Perroni went on to join Adam & the Ants. The core duo of Sioux and Severin, along with new guitarist John McKay and drummer Kenny Morris, reached the U.K. Top Ten with their 1978 debut single, "Hong Kong Garden"; their grim, dissonant first LP, The Scream, followed later in the year. Two days into a tour for their 1979 follow-up, Join Hands, both McKay and Morris abruptly departed, and guitarist Robert Smith of the Cure (the tour's opening act) and ex-Slits and Big in Japan drummer Budgie were enlisted to fill the void; although Smith returned to the Cure soon after, Budgie became a permanent member of the group, and remained with the Banshees throughout the duration of their career.


With ex-Magazine guitarist John McGeoch on board, the band returned to the studio for 1980's Kaleidoscope, a subtler and more melodic effort than their prior records; on the strength of the U.K. Top 20 smash "Happy House," the album reached the Top Five. A year later, the Banshees released the psychedelic Juju, along with Once Upon a Time, a collection of singles; at the same time, Sioux and Budgie formed the Creatures, an ongoing side project. Following 1982's experimental A Kiss in the Dreamhouse, McGeoch fell ill, and Smith temporarily rejoined for the group's planned tour; a pair of 1983 performances at London's Royal Albert Hall were recorded and later issued as Nocturne. Also in 1983, Severin and Smith teamed as the one-off project the Glove for the LP Blue Sunshine.

After his recovery, McGeoch opted not to return, so the Banshees recruited former Clock DVA guitarist John Carruthers after Smith exited following the sessions for 1984's dark, atmospheric Hyaena. With 1986's Tinderbox, Siouxsie and the Banshees finally reached the U.S. Top 100 album charts, largely on the strength of the excellent single "Cities in Dust." After 1987's all-covers collection Through the Looking Glass, Carruthers took his leave and was replaced by ex-Specimen guitarist Jon Klein and keyboardist Martin McCarrick for 1988's Peepshow, a techno-inspired outing that gave the group its first U.S. chart single with "Peek-a-Boo."

In 1991 -- the year in which Sioux and Budgie married -- the Banshees performed on the inaugural Lollapalooza tour; their concurrent LP, Superstition was their most commercially successful, spawning their lone U.S. Top 40 hit, "Kiss Them for Me." Another singles collection, Twice Upon a Time, followed in 1992 before the group returned after a long absence with 1995's stylish The Rapture, produced in part by John Cale. A year later, the nostalgia surrounding the reunion of their former heroes the Sex Pistols prompted Siouxsie and the Banshees to finally call it quits; Siouxsie and Budgie turned to the Creatures as their primary project, while Severin composed the score for the controversial film Visions of Ecstasy.

It's fairly safe to say that after the rather bland and lackluster, pompous career-ending album The Rapture, hope for a Siouxsie and the Banshees reunion (albeit live or otherwise) was probably less than enthusiastic. Siouxsie Sioux and Budgie had been making post-breakup waves with the Creatures, and Steven Severin seemed to settle in nicely in his little world of ambient music and erotic poetry. All that Banshees business seemed to be locked away in the past. So when it was announced that the reunited core three of Sioux, Budgie, and Severin would be playing a handful of shows across America and England, it was greeted with surprise and curiosity. What would they do? Was this another big cash in on the punk revival, à la the Sex Pistols reunion? Amazingly, it was quite the contrary. The lack of a huge itinerary made the shows that did happen seem more intimate. But the real treat of the shows (especially the London one, captured on Seven Year Itch and its related DVD release) was the set list. While in the States concessions were made for some of the tunes that made a (surprising) dent on the radio, the U.K. set list was a purist's dream. Culling material from early albums such as Kaleidoscope, The Scream, and Join Hands was not only a way to retain some semblance of respect, but it was the logical thing to do given the fickleness of casual fans who probably wouldn't have made the trek to wherever to see them. This tour and its CD and DVD releases were made for the true fans, the longtime supporters who understood that the true magic of the band was found in its ability to make music that was genuinely interesting and out of the bounds of standard play lists and popular fads. A gem of a live record, Seven Year Itch leaves the listener satisfied that for once a great band got together and opted for class instead of mediocrity.

El dúo fue formado oficialmente en 1993 por Erik García ó Erk Aircrag (voz y composición) y Óscar Mayorga ó Racso Agroyam (programación), ambos primos habían estado experimentando con música electrónica, mezcla de sonidos industriales y EBM, desde los quince años. Su música se puede describir como electronica o hardfloor oscuro y agresivo. Sus letras son cantadas tanto en español como en inglés.

El disco que en esta ocasión te presentamos en FOH corresponde a una edición especial limitada solo a 1000 copias.

The duo was officially formed in 1993 by Erik Garcia a.k.a Erk Aircrag (lyrics and vocals) and Oscar Mayorga a.k.a. Racso Agroyam (Programming), both cousins had been experimenting with electronic music, mixing Industrial and EBM, since they were fifteen years old. Their music can be described as dark and aggressive electronica or hardfloor. Their lyrics are either Spanish or English. The Spanish word hocico means snout and is a derogatory term that indicates ugliness (e.g., ugly as a dog's snout).

The disc this time FOH presents to you is a special edition limited to 1000 copies.

Melotron - Sternenstraub

Melotron es una banda de Alemania Oriental formada en 1996 por Andy Krüger, Edgar Slatnow y Kay Hildebrandt, comenzando su carrera musical a una edad temprana. Pero, al contrario de muchos colegas, decidieron dejar de lado el idioma inglés y optando por comunicarse en su lengua natal, el alemán.

Aún sin un sello discográfico que los apoyara, el grupo logra presentarse en importantes escenarios en su natal Alemania; incluso comparte el escenario con la legendaria banda, Alphaville. Durante sus presentaciones logran vender más de 1,000 copias de su cinta demo, lo cual demuestra el gran impacto que causó el grupo con su propio estilo de synthpop.

En 1996, el grupo convence al reconocido productor alemán Olaf Wollschläger para trabajar en su album debut “Mörderwerk” (Murderer's Work). Durante este año la banda descansa de los escenarios y se concentra solamente en el estudio de grabación.

Durante 1997, aún trabajando en el album, el trío decide presentarse en diversos festivales en Alemania y el sello Zoth Ommog/Music Research comienza a tener pláticas con el grupo para el lanzamiento del ansiado material discográfico.

Finalmente en 1998, el primer sencillo “Dein Meister” (Your Master) sale a la venta bajo el sello Zoth Ommog y logra entrar en los charts alternativos. El grupo se presenta en algunas ocasiones como telonero dentro de la gira Re:Boot del grupo de culto Front 242.

El primer sencillo del segundo material discográfico, “Tanz mit dem Teufel” (Dance with the devil) es editado a principios del año 2000, causando gran aceptación entre los fans y la crítica. En febrero de este año lanzan “Fortschritt”, el cual marca una evolución en el sonido del grupo, ya que deciden invitar a otros músicos y crear un sonido más experimental. Este segundo album es editado por el nuevo sello alemán Bloodline, ya que su sello anterior había desaparecido. El grupo se embarca en su propia gira por Europa, incrementando cada vez más el número de seguidores y ganándose el respeto dentro de la escena electrónica.

En el 2002 firman con el sello SPV, y lanzan "Weltfrieden", su tercer trabajo, donde Melotron se adentra en otros géneros musicales, demostrando que la música electrónica puede ser diversa y contemporánea al mismo tiempo.

Su cuarto disco, "Sternenstaub" llegó a las bateas solo un año después, siguiendo una larga gira por Estados Unidos y Canadá, donde son distribuidos por el sello independiente más importante, Metropolis Records. La gira también llevó a Melotron por Europa Oriental, Escandinavia, Israel, y Sudamérica.

Melotron it's an Eastern Germany band formed in 1996 by Andy Krüger, Edgar Slatnow and Kay Hildebrandt, beginning its musical career at an early age. But, unlike many colleagues, they decided to leave off the English language and choosing to communicate in its native language, the German.

In February of this year they send “Fortschritt”, which marks an evolution in the sound of the group, since they decide to invite other musicians and to create a more experimental sound. This second album was published by the new German seal 'Bloodline', since its previous seal had disappeared. The group more and more embarks in its own tour by Europe, increasing the number of followers and gaining the respect within the electronic scene.

In the 2002 they sign with seal SPV, and record" Weltfrieden", his third work, where Melotron is entered in other musical sorts, demonstrating that electronic music can be at the same time diverse and contemporary.

Its fourth production, " Sternenstaub" only a year before arrived, following one long tour by the United States and Canada, where they were distributed by the most important independent seal in USA, 'Metropolis Records'. The tour also took to Melotron by Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Israel, and South America.

The Last Dance - Discography

The Last Dance es un grupo estadounidense de Darkwave. Formado en 1990 e integrado por Jeff Diehm (vocalista), Rick Joyce (guitarra), Peter J. Gorritz (bajo) y Tom Coyne (batería).

Tienen un sonido muy particular que los identifica, el uso de guitarra muy limpia en conjunción con la voz, además de crear ambientes obscuros y definidos por una rítmica muy bien conjuntada por la batería y el bajo.

En esta ocasión te presentamos en Fields of Haze una compilación de varios de sus álbumes:



Everyone and Angel EP (1995)


Un CD realizado a partir de dos cassettes demo, remasterizado y con una cantidad de copias limitada. El primer demo salió a la venta en 1991 y fué llamado "Everyone". El segundo demo fué liberado en 1992, el título "Angel".


Tradegy (1995)


En 1995, TLD graba su primer proyecto desde 1992. Tres años de experiencias hicieron posibles éste álbum, donde plasman esas vivencias en notas y letras. El resultado fué un cassette con cinco canciones, denominado "Tragedy". Una semana después de la grabación, Apollyon Records en Alemania lo escuchó y decidieron lanzarlo en Europa pero con formato de CD. TLD respondió grabando un track más, "You" el cual aparece solo en la versión de CD. A inicios de 1996 "Tradedy" fue editado en EU a través de Mystine Records y la distribución de Etherhaus. Desde su aparición en noviembre de 1995, cada canción del disco recibió una buena distribución via radio y fué muy bien acogido en varias partes del mundo.




Fairytales (1996)


A finales de 1996 TLD comenzó lo que sería su cuarta producción y segundo LP, "Fairytales". En él se comenzaba a dibujar cada aspecto del grupo, de dónde venían, de dónde eran y hacia dónde se dirigían. conteniendo elementos que hacen ya de TLD un grupo con sello propio, de fácil reconocimiento e inolvidable. De las cenizas de la tragedia, a la obscuridad del romanticismo, cada aspecto de TLD podía ser identificada aquí. Este CD de 14 canciones está disponible en EU a través de Mystine Records y Etherhaus. En Europa se lanzó una edición en digi pack, color negro, violeta y oro, representando la relación entre TLD y su representante Europeo, Apollyon Records.



Perfect (2002)
(No disponible)


5to disco de su carrera, grabado tras tres años de conciertos y presentaciones. La idea original del concepto "Perfect" comenzó en 1999, en los dos últimos TLD expandió la idea, introduciendo ideas nuevas, producción y grabación. El resultado, el disco estaba lista para junio de 2001.



Now & Forever (2002)


Realizado paralelamente con la gira europea de TLD en abril de 2002. "Now & Forever" representa los logros alcanzados a lo largo de 11 años y 4 LP's. Esta compilación presenta varias versiones a las canciones preferidas de TLD, incluyendo algunas nuevas no editadas hasta ese momento. "She's dancing" y "This tragedy", dos canciones preferidas por el público europeo, fueron específicamente remezcladas para este CD y para la audiencia europea. "The Storm",
remix de la canción aparecida en "Perfect" es exclusiva de este CD. Otras canciones incluídas aparecieron en varias compilaciones como -Goth's undead to Dracula, Rey de los Vampiros-.




Whispers in Rage (2003)


Whispers in Rage, es la producción donde brotan los conflictos de pensamiento, emociones y sentimientos expermientados por TLD a través de su música y sus canciones, lo que se extiende a una fuerza muy profunda de composición lírica... para ellos al momento de escribirlas. El resultado es por mucho el álbum más personal y poderoso que TLD había producido hasta ese momento. Incluye colaboraciones de otros músicos de bandas bien conocidas en el ambiente dark y gótico, como Rachel McDonnell (The Cruxshadows), Mera Roberts (Mercurine), Jellanna García, Dough Jackson, Tom Coyne, entre otros. Con sus aportes, cada uno en su instrumento y a su manera, se logró producir un sonido completamente diferente e imaginado por la banda.





Once Beautiful (2005)


"Once Beautiful" incorpora nuevos elementos y músicos para lograr un sonido nuevo, como a Tina Root (Switchblade Symphony), Michele Joyce and Lauri (High Blue Star), entre otros.
