How do I get the skills needed?

AnnaKossua
commented

Good news! All the levels were made 15-20 years ago, so they're not using newer and newer programs/tech to solve.

They get more complex, but not really from a tech standpoint. An early level might hide the password in tiny letters on a photo. A hard level may do the same, but it's only the first clue in a puzzle with 10 steps.

So for the most part, they really only use a few things.

  • Photo editing software (Photoshop or similar)

  • Audio editing software (Audacity)

  • Various ways to decode text (like you've seen in earlier levels)

  • Familiarity with file extensions (like jpg, htm, zip or whatever)

Switch on "show all file extensions" option on your computer!

Save literally everything as you go! ANY images you see, save them. Same with sound, un/pw, URLs, hidden messages, and how you solved each one. I learned this the hard way.

Possibly. I have SPD and I'm like that with velvet or similar fabrics. Touching them personally is out of the question, but I can't even watch other people touch them.

do i have spd

It seems like nobody really knows SPD exists, apart from those who have it, and those who diagnose it. Even this subreddit is quite low-traffic.

My mother still can't wrap her head around it. I explained the whole thing a number of times, but it's all "so you don't like velvet?" Bleah.

We all have annoyances, sure, but SPD is where everyone except you can tune out the shirt tag stabbing your neck, or a random beep-ding-beeping OMG TURN THAT BEEP OFF!!! Your brain prioritizes the annoyance as the most important thing in the world.

It's also a lifelong thing (yay) -- sensitivities show up as a tiny kid, though specifics may change. It usually involves all 5 senses, and aren't from trauma, like hating a food because you once had a stomach flu and puked it up.

There is treatment, occupational therapy, as well as avoidance (earplugs, clothing that's tolerable, etc.) and "antidotes." For me, soft squishy plastic tubes (lotion, toothpaste, etc.) are incredibly helpful. And people are learning, a lot of stores have quiet hours for sensory haters.

who are some YouTubers that you absolutely despise?

Well.... yes!

They're not commentary videos, they're someone else's commentary videos that he grabs, then hits play and pause, to add in some word-fart. Just lazy reaction videos, it's like sitting down to watch a movie, and your friend hits Pause 50 times.

Not OP, but he does too much misleading stuff. He did one about actors whose lives were ruined after their shows ended, like drugs, crime, etc. Clickbaited the girl from Lazytown as the main image, someone who went to college and became an occupational therapist.

Rest of the video was fine, but cheap shit like that, and you're fired!

Sometimes I'll click on his videos when it's an interesting topic and Youtube isn't showing me similar.

And once I do, I figure out whose video he's pausing every 12 seconds to make some dumb comment, then go watch the original.

Definitely sounds like Amway. It may be that you're younger than what they look for (I saw you're in college) and from what I've seen of Ambots, they tend to prefer married couples or long-term SO's. Though none of that is set in stone, lol. Whatever it was, be glad! :D Hopefully he doesn't contact you.

It reminded me of back when people called you up to sell timeshares, and I'd get trapped on the phone. They'd be all excited until "how much do you earn?" "Below the threshold." ... click Hey, where'd ya go??? Hello???? Hahahaha!

My bf wants me to bankroll his choices - advice needed!!

AnnaKossua
replied to SgtBollocks

Yeah, left her husband 6 months ago because he stole her dog. Then immediately begins a relationship where 4 months later (left in May) the guy randomly moves to another country, but they don't split up?

Both stories have insanity: Doctor husband comes home angry, so she walks to a hotel for the night. Leaves so fast she doesn't bring her wallet, phone or car. The next day, she finds her dog in the boot of the husband's car at work.

And both stories ask for advice? Should she leave the dognapping husband? Should she bankroll the runaway bf? Come on!

Who is Agent Nimrod?

AnnaKossua
commented

KLINK IS NIMROD!!

He fooled everyone in the camp that he was terrible at violin. But then one day he busts out a beautiful rendition of... the US Air Force theme song!?

That scene also was done IMO as break-the-fourth-wall moment, to show the world that Klemperer was talented.

It's not Burkhalter or Hochstetter, because they're both willing to swap Hans Wagner for Klink. They had to truly believe Klink was Nimrod, because giving up an extremely important prisoner for a nobody Colonel could get them tickets on the Stalingrad Express!

Of course, if B or H were secretly Nimrod, they'd want Wagner to be freed, but doing so in this prisoner swap would attract too much attention. They'd decline the swap, then arrange Wagner's escape later when the heat's off.

So, yeah,

KLINK IS NIMROD!!!

Oh, the humidity! A southerner's thoughts on drying laundry

AnnaKossua
commented

Oooh, something popular in Japan that I really want...

Some of the bathroom fans have dehumidifiers in them. Dries the steam after a shower, but is also used for drying laundry. Put wet clothes on hangers, and hang over the tub.

Oh, that reminds me! We live in a condo that doesn't allow window unit or portable ACs. Dehumidifiers are OK, and since the portable units have dehumidifier settings, we can use them. Just a heads-up if anyone is fighting with compliance if you don't have central AC (ours died and can't fix it yet.)

AnnaKossua

Instead of a clothesline, I just put clothes onto hangers and put them around the house. I wash large loads, so I put hangers on the moulding above door frames, spaced about 4-6" apart, with a box fan underneath. Rarely hang over the tub as there's not enough airflow in there.

It's nice because it's no more work than machine-drying and putting on hangers. Less nice, having to duck when entering rooms, so I usually do so overnight.

It's worth it, as it extends the life of clothing. That lint filter we empty each cycle isn't really lint -- it's fibers being beaten outta your clothes! Air-dry keeps them way more intact.

I do use the dryer for bedding and towels. Tip I didn't know: Never use fabric softener on towels or microfiber cloths. It waterproofs them!
