Coming to understand why I was a "difficult child" despite being a rule-follower who couldn't bring myself to lie

This hit home for me as well. I was a problem for the exact same reason. My dad loved it and always encouraged that quality in me because he felt it would serve me as a human. In some ways he was absolutely right. My mother on the other hand... oof. She always hated that about me. Meanwhile my brother just okays everyone tp death and does what he wants lol. My mom can't understand why my dad can convince me of things, but my brother you can't. Idk if this made any sense. I'm still drinking coffee lol

DAE think it’s rude to talk about your plans in front of people who aren’t invited?

I recently realized that sometimes people talking about plans in front of you IS the invitation. Super confusing and something i had to be outright told, but do you think this could be the case?

If you think you might be autistic - or even if you're on The Quest, to figure out why life seems so much stranger and harder for you than it does for other people - then we made this space for you. It's one thing to read DSM diagnostic criteria or an Autism Parent's lamentations, and another to really hear us as we describe what it feels like to _be_ autistic. Welcome, and please feel free to ask questions! :)

My friend said that I shouldn't be happy about autism diagnosis

I don't get this. An autism diagnosis doesn't mean you suddenly 'get' autism. You already had it, your whole life. Now, you just know why you've felt different.
