JOCKY SCOTT IN 1970

"Ohhhhh Jocky Jocky - Jocky Jocky Jocky Jocky Jocky Scott."
This is Jocky Scott getting the pitch all to himself in 1970.
Still a bit young for his side-lappers to make an appearance, but by this time his many match appearances saw him well on the road to being our very own 70's superstar!

JOCKY SCORES AGAINST HIBS - 1974

Jocky Scott on target in a game against Hibs at Easter Road on 9th March 1974.
This was the Scottish Cup Quarters and we ended up drawing 3-3 in Edinburgh in front of a crowd of 28,000.
We famously went on to do the biz at Dens (3-0) in the replay the following week in front of an even larger crowd of 30,000!

THE NICE ONE CHANT - 1973

This chant cropped up around the terraces in 1973. The "Nice One ..." song came about when Totenham Hotspur released a record by Cockerel Chorus called "Nice One Cyril" which got into the pop charts. The single being a tribute to Spurs legend, Cyril Knowles. The tune caught on around the country and would be chanted at matches when a player in your team scored. The crowd would just replace Cyril with the name of the scorer.
For my wee Karaoke demonstration below, I have chosen Jocky Scott (sitting), who was Dundee's top scorer in 1973/74 when it was sung at Dens.
Incidentally, ex Dee, Alan Gilzean was still playing for Spurs in 1973 when the single charted, although I don't know if he sang on the record.
Anybody spot him on Top Of The Pops?
The tune also featured in a tv commercial sometime later.

JOCKY v PELE

On the subject of Pele, here is another wee Dundee link.
This photo showing Jocky Scott battling it out with Pele was taken in the USA in 1977.
Jocky was playing for the Seattle Sounders at the time (Gordon Wallace also played for them) and this crunch match against Pele's team, New York Cosmos, was the League decider. Unfortunately, Cosmos, who also had Beckenbauer & Carlos Alberta in their team, won it 2-1.
The Sounders did beat Cosmos earlier in the same season with Jocky scoring the only goal!

DUNDEE v DUNDEE

This picture was taken during a training session practice match at Dens in 1969. Jocky Scott in Dundee's away strip (white) and Jim Fraser in the home kit.
Your guess is as good as mine as to who won. Dundee probably!

JOCKY SCOTT SUPERSTAR CHANT - 1970

This chant was popular at Dens in the very early 70's. It uses the tune from Jesus Christ Superstar which was a rock opera stage show in 1970.
