Will you (or did you) leave the US if the 2024 election doesn't go your way?
We will leave. I should say, my kids and I will leave. I’m not sure if my husband will follow. Project 2025 is terrifying. I have queer kids. I will protect them at all costs and that includes leaving with or without my husband. I love him, we’ve been married for 25 years this year, but my kids can’t protect themselves from laws that make who they are illegal.
I have a female Parrotlet and she doesn’t speak but will mimic the rhythm of what I’m saying. My oldest has a male and hers speaks. I’ve read that it’s much easier to teach males to speak than females.

AITA for being frustrated when people look at me weirdly because my 4-year-old son is white and I'm black?
I’m so sorry. Your feelings are valid and you are definitely NTA and I’m sure it had to have been scary not knowing how the police would handle the situation.
My grandsons are biracial. My daughter is white and my son-in-law is black (also biracial but looks black). My oldest grandson is the whitest black child I have ever seen. Not a hint of being black in any way and has fairer skin than I or his mother (those Irish genes are strong with that kid). When he was younger and would throw the typical toddler tantrums while in a store or out in public, my son-in-law would start to worry that people would assume he was trying to kidnap his son. People definitely stared if he was taking him out to the car during a tantrum, but he was fortunate that no one actually called the police.

AITA to inform my husband that I would divorce him if he continues to defend my brother.
My mother in law had the same thing happen. My baby brother in law did not make it. My MIL nearly died and is really only alive because my FIL went ballistic demanding they save her life. They weren’t even giving her oxygen or anything. The way women are treated in medicine is and has always been, an abomination.
Came here to say the same. One of my husband’s first signs of cancer, was nipples tenderness. He had a lump in his testicle, but he was the only one who could feel it. The dumb ass doctor sent him for a mammogram, which of course showed nothing. He was quite fortunate in that it was a very slow growing leidig cell carcinoma, but his cancer was a more rare form and most testicular cancers are not slow growing. He also had back pain and sore stomach like he’d been doing crunches.

My husband suggested 3some with a woman. I want divorce

My family and I unanimously decided we would not attend this year unless your request for livable wages was met. My husband and I were planning our 25th wedding anniversary celebration there and our family, including spouses and grandchildren were supposed to go.
We stand with you and hope that this is resolved quickly for you.

What are some words or things that you link to the church even though they aren't specific to mormonism?
Even when I was a Molly, I hated this phrase. Why would anybody want any to endure to the end. There’s no joy in that. It’s just suffering. Forever. Until death. No thank you.

What’s the most cringey Mormon thing your lds loved one(s) have said to you?
I’m so sorry. What a terrible, miserable human your brother must be.

AITAH for lying to my wife that I'd forgive her cheating?
It seems like she took that as a hall pass. It was a conversation you had years ago. NTA.

My dude. Why so angry? Damn. Go touch some grass. She’s lucky to be alive because she has a heart condition. Maybe you didn’t read that part.

You have almost 20,000 people telling you this isn’t normal and that man is dangerous. Please get out. Go home to your family or move someplace else, but get out. You’re lucky to be alive.

AIO? My 23M boyfriend held me 19F underwater during a bath to prove a point and I’m still shaken
Yes. Yesterday. Get out as of yesterday. Seriously. This guy is dangerous.
The BOM literally used to refer to white people as, “white and delightsome.” There was an apostle who taught that he’d seen POC develop lighter skin as they became more righteous. POC were only allowed to be sealed to general authorities (back in the early years of the church) as servants. Brigham Young taught that if anyone married outside of their race, it should be punishable by death. There’s so much more. Yeah. Not a racist organization at all.

Am I overreacting? Do I have to have it?
My MIL passed away a couple of years ago but my mother never had her number and we’ve been married for twenty five years. I don’t have the number of my daughter’s in laws, either. We are friendly when we see one another but we aren’t friends and we would not be compatible as such.

Who killed the Dardeen family, and why?
I literally gasped when I read that Peter and the newborn were beaten to death. This person watched that baby being born and beat it to death. I just…

10+ years after your wedding what actually mattered?
I’ve been married for (almost) twenty five years. I wish I had done it the way we wanted. We wanted jeans and t-shirts on the beach but let people talk us into formal and in a chapel (because we’d regret how informal our wedding was later). All these years later, I still wish we had done it our way. It’s who we are…comfortable, hippy-ish, laid back and don’t care for tradition people. My only advice would be to do what you want for your wedding. It’s about celebrating you and your soon to be spouse and NOT about what others think is best.

Mormon girls are so mean.
First, I’m so sorry this happened to your daughter. Middle school girls are the worst. As a mom who has five kids ranging in age from 36 on down to 14, it’s girls in general at that age who are mean. That age is particularly awful.

What is something that actually happened to you that you don’t tell anyone because they won’t believe it.
I’ve told very few people this story, but I was once in Strawberry, CA fishing with a boyfriend. If you’re not familiar with Strawberry, it’s a small town in Northern California. It’s also a town that supposedly has frequent Bigfoot sightings. They post the sightings on the board outside the small store in town. Or at least they used to…I haven’t been back in many years.
Anyway, we’re situated on the bank of the river talking and fishing. My boyfriend got a bite on his line, so he jumped up to grab his pole and I jumped up to grab the net. He’s reeling in his fish, when I notice something across the river. It was a movement…above the tree line. We’re talking huge, old growth pine trees. I look up, and my boyfriend realizes what’s happening before me. He drops his pole (buh bye pole…into the river it went) and we are both frozen for a moment. There were large rocks being tossed above the tree line and I know how crazy it sounds, but we both saw it. I’ve never forgotten the look on his face as he realized what he/we were seeing. We finally understood and got the hell out of there.
While I can’t say I saw a Sasquatch, I can tell you that I’m 100% convinced it was. For me, there is simply no other explanation, especially given the topography of the area and the size of the rocks being thrown. This was in the 90’s and I’ve had a lot of time to think about that afternoon. I’ve tried to find plausible reasons (I’m not superstitious and I seek out the rational vs irrational) and I can’t find one. Prior to that experience, I laughed about people who believed in Bigfoot, but I believe people who claim to have experienced now.

Male midwives?
I will only go to female providers. TS not because I’m a survivor of SA (I am), but because I’ve found that female providers overwhelmingly tend to listen more and take my concerns seriously. While it’s not always the case, it’s overwhelmingly been my experience that my health concerns are addressed instead of being blamed on hormones.

C section shaming
What a ludicrous idea it is that a vaginal birth means a baby won’t get sick. I’ve had four kids and all of them got sick as babies.
I’m so sorry that she’s shaming you. That’s not ok. What matters is that your babies are here and safe.
