Akamon Beta White Paper v0 is here! 🌉📄 by Admirable_Guava_5764 in MELD_labs

[–]Visible_Delay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Admirable_Guava_5764 , I’m trying to stay calm and relaxed, but you certainly make it challenging with all the incredible news.

NFT discounts potentially for bridging actions? Fascinating. If nothing else, I have to say that Meld seems to be one of the top projects for how it gives back to the initial investors (ISPO backers) in meaningful ways through DH and BM utility. Sure other projects have given some nice rewards and head nods to early investors, but I just cant help but think Meld is really putting in place a lasting suite of benefits for the ~44k ISPO participants and the 4,676 DH recipiants.

Incredible!

What new Proton product would you like to see? by VroomVroomVeryBad in ProtonMail

I generally agree that Brave search still needs to be improved, but I would also point out that Brave bought Tailcat just so they could provide their own index behind a more private search engine. I imagine it will take some time to refine their product.

Although in my experience of using it almost exclusively since it came out, I can probably found on just my two hands the amount of times that I felt I had to use Google to get the result I wanted, so I don’t really see that as being too bad.

MELD Newsletter #5 📰 - Akamon by Admirable_Guava_5764 in MELD_labs

[–]Visible_Delay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool! End of June (ish) for the BMs!!

Just a question, these are randomized on mint, right? Are the 10 gold BM included in the random minting process or are these a totally separate process to acquire.

Akamon Alpha - Update ⏫ by Admirable_Guava_5764 in MELD_labs

It was MATIC -> mMATIC, and also mADA -> back to ADA.

I’ll try again today.

That being said, I thought it was a beautiful interface and can’t wait to use it for real.

[–]Visible_Delay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I provided feedback for Meld, but I had only tiny issues with sending $ADA to $mADA, but for some reason I couldn’t get the $tMATIC to work. I tried a few times and then just gave up.

Tell my mama I tried to be as cool as Admirable Bill. She won’t believe me.

How to move to linux by Player_X_YT in degoogle

[–]Visible_Delay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do this. I have Pop! OS and dual boot Windows. I only use Windows for the few games that I play that have an anti-cheat software. Although, some anti-cheat software is slowly trickling in to Linux.

Other than games, there is very little incentive that I see to keep Windows. You can use Microsoft Office 365 apps in browser and they work well. Of course, there are FOSS alternatives that work really well, too, depending on your needs.

I suppose I’m not exactly clear on what the OP is staying as their issue or concern, so it’s a little harder to offer more information.

New website and pricing is out! by UltimateScrubXL in ProtonMail

[–]Visible_Delay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m very excited for all of these changes. But I have to pinch myself to make sure that 3TB is the new storage for visionary plans!!! Thank you, Proton.

One question: Will we still be able to change options within the plan (such as adding additional users or adding VPN connections) without losing Visionary? If we keep it as the same billing cycle length?

Edit: I clearly was excited and wrote this before I read the literal next paragraph in the article. Adjusted a question that makes me look more dumber.

My model for the NFT game, will be happy to hear some feedback by ArribleGameDev in cardano

No idea which game, but my critique of your art is that this model looks really good. It’s a good design, good colors, all around good quality.

Kudos.

Is it still worth staking for MELD? by skivvey in MELD_labs

[–]Visible_Delay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a highly subjective question. There's a whole lot of personal investment strategy and intent that we couldn't know.

However, if you're looking for sentiment and an overall sense of how I see this project here's what I can offer.

Short answer: Yes, it's worth it.

I think the answer to your question IMO is that yes, this is a project worth staking in. If you participate now, you'll be able to get a 6mo fixed-rate stake which will give you 6% during that time (two 6mo period were available for a total APY of 12%). After that lock up period, the variable/flex stake option should be available with an unknown APY%.

I think that the price point we're at right now (since we're somewhere in a bear market) is a good price to get in on. Of course, the same could be said for nearly any project that you might consider. As u/pnd83 said, this round of time-bound staking will end and coincide with the launch of their MELDapp and core services, which I can only imagine will boost the value of the asset.

I personally think that the biggest jump would really only come when they successfully roll out their crypto-to-fiat loans. When it's just a crypto-to-crypto DeFi it has a lot of promise but doesn't really differentiate itself significantly from competitors (other than that perhaps they have a really good implementation and a fair margin call system). But if they pull off being able to take offer straight to fiat loans against crypto holdings, that's revolutionary and would almost certainly make them the DeFi loan protocol of choice.

There's always the concern that you mentioned for a large group of early investors to dump $MELD the moment the price hits a good (for them) value. That's true for any project, especially startups. However, I think the Cardano community (as a generalization) tends to be more long-term and would likely hold for the long term. I personally plan to hold for at least 3-5 years while I continue to assess the project.

Using Trezor with disabilities. by Visible_Delay in TREZOR

[–]Visible_Delay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. If the information is displayed on-screen then the TTS and other accessibility features should assist (I suppose that would be one way to verify every address, but then there's almost no way you'd memorize it for comparing them).

I'll have to look at the T1 or see if Trezor every releases an update that permits a user to lock the numbers. I suppose there's minimal demand for them to use the same device they have but implement physical braille buttons for the keypad and, I don't know some form of audio reading the tx information.

I can understand all of this would be problematic, but eventually someone will be motivated enough to sort it out. A project called IcyWallet seemed to start but fizzled out it seems.

Using Trezor with disabilities. by Visible_Delay in TREZOR

[–]Visible_Delay[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent point. I suppose there is enough ambiguity in there.

The scenario is that I'm looking to implement a multi-sig wallet and would like to have all operators use a Trezor (or another HW if something is better for this scenario). However, one of the key individuals is blind and while they have a significant amount of accessibility software and aids, I'm trying to figure out how or if they could use a Trezor.

The issues I see are that if the scenario uses Trezor Model T's then the digits aren't in the same place each time (so an overlay of braille wouldn't work). I'm not sure if there is a way to freeze the random ordering of the keys. A Model One wouldn't seem any better since it would require selecting with two buttons. Is there are an accessibility plug-in that would help?

In a more abstract manner, I suppose that eventually as crypto expands even more this matter will be something that HW manufacturers will need to consider. Otherwise, there would be an entire segment of the market that would seem locked out of the majority of HW and would be essentially relegated to using hot wallets where on-screen readers could assist (with the proper permissions for web extensions).

Agreed. I think there’s a lot of future potential for Celer, even beyond just bridging. Always glad to lower my position.

Any Defi new projects? by Balder057 in defi

Not necessarily launching in the next few weeks, but Meld r/MELD_labs looks like a promising project in DeFi.

I would DYOR of course, and read the wp or look at their documents page.

Why use SimpleLogin instead of creating aliases directly through a domain registrar? by BananaBread856 in Simplelogin

Great answer!

I also like that with SL it makes it easy to set your reply display name (shown in-line). Sure this could done by OP’s method, but SL just makes this part easier.

SimpleLogin could be a haven for users of closed email providers. What do you think? (CTemplar is shutting down on May 26th) by GammelSami in Simplelogin

[–]Visible_Delay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

About the only thing I imagine SL could really do is convince CTemplar to give them the domain after they shut their services down. I don’t really see it worth it for SL to pay for it from them.

I’m not entirely sure what the value would be. Pick a different mail provider and pass public emails through SL. I’m not trying to be insensitive about losing your email provider. That part sucks.

If SL shut down I’d be far worse off than if my email provider closed. It would take so long to change every email address on SL or find a place to host my domain that could preserve some 200+ addresses.
