All spoilers must be tagged. The code to make a spoiler in a comment or text post body is:
[Spoiler source] >!Spoiler goes here!<
This shows up as:
[Spoiler source] Spoiler goes here
The source of a spoiler (the title of the thing it's spoiling) must be clearly listed somewhere before the spoiler in your post or comment using [] to identify it.
Do not post spoilers in the submission title.
Links to external articles/images with spoilers should have the [Spoiler] flair as well as the name of the show.
Spoilers can sometimes prove difficult to interpret. If possible, when reporting a spoiler tell us how the comment/thread is a spoiler.
Source material scenes/info that were left out of the anime are still spoilers. Tag them appropriately.
If you repeatedly fail to properly use spoiler tags you will be banned.
Rules
1
Everything posted here must be anime-specific
We use the definition that anime is an animated title, produced in Japan. By requiring things to be "anime-specific", we allow posts about a specific anime or set of anime, as well as circumstances in which anime is deeply intertwined.
We are very strict about spoilers in r/anime, and not just anime spoilers. Spoiling other types of media, Western or Eastern, will also break this rule.
Posting memes, reaction images, shitposts, etc. to the subreddit is not allowed. This includes blatant bait or troll attempts. Posts that consist of just an image and text from a meme also break this rule, even if the text is in the title of the post rather than superimposed on the image.
5
Do not link to illegal content
Do not link/lead people to torrents or unofficial streams/downloads. This also includes manga, light novels, and other illegal or unlicensed media. This rule also extends to watermarks of illegal streaming sites and links to images hosted on scanlation sites.
Submissions and comments containing lightly NSFW content are acceptable. This means underwear, bikinis, cleavage, butts, and light fanservice is fine. Things that are not lightly NSFW include female nipples, genitals of either gender, heavily implied sexual content, and sexual contact between characters.
This isn't a porn subreddit, and it shouldn't be treated as one. Though anime can get racy at times, we have a hard limit to keep this subreddit accessible to as many people as possible.
7
Post meta comments in the Monthly Meta Thread
A meta comment is a comment specifically about r/anime (e.g. a suggestion to improve the subreddit or a complaint about something). Do note that even though the thread is posted every month, we moderators are constantly monitoring it. You can find the latest one here.
8
Answered questions will be removed
Simple questions with specific answers can be posted with the [Help] flair, but when they have received a correct answer they will get removed. Note however that this is not a violation of our rules. Posts looking for new anime to watch should use the [What to Watch?] flair instead.
9
Post merchandise in the Daily thread
Merchandise should be posted in our Daily Anime or Casual Discussion Fridays threads. Collection posts and purchases, including gifted/received items, count as merchandise. You may also use this thread for Merchandise related questions.
10
Fanart and cosplay posts are only allowed to be posted under certain restrictions
All Fanart posts must and posted as a text post and include the name of the anime in the title.
For [Fanart] posts, if not made by you (OC) then you must include an album of three or more related images.
All [Cosplay] posts must be posted in an album of 3 or more images, and all images must have a direct relationship.
r/anime is a large community, and it becomes easy to create and spam low effort content in an effort to farm karma or to get a quick reaction. We want to uphold a minimum standard of quality as a premier anime community, and keeping content at a certain level quality goes a long way to meet this goal.
We do not allow bots on r/anime, even "useful" bots. Whenever we see a comment or post by one, that bot is banned. We would appreciate it if you blacklisted r/anime in your bot's configuration to save us the hassle. If you really think your bot would be beneficial to r/anime, please modmail us explaining why and we'll let you know if we will permit it.
In general, novelty accounts will also be removed on sight, being very similar to bots in how they operate.

Post source-related comments in the Source Material Corner
In episode discussion threads of airing anime adaptations, please keep all source-related comments, such as discussion of future events, comparisons with the source material, or talk about the source material in general, in the Source Material Corner.
