Snub TV- The KLF (c1990) PressPausePlay - Bill Drummond Interview (2011)

I know this is lazy blogging. I've got a few good records lined up but my computer is coming to the end of its 'life' and I'm having problems uploading. In the meantime enjoy these two interviews with Bill Drummond, a man I admire greatly.

Help- A Charity Project for the Children of Bosnia (1995)

The nineties passed me by in a haze. I have vague memories of drunkenly watching the nightmare of the wars in the former Yugoslavia on Newsnight . I knew I was living through a period of significant change, but it just wasn't sinking in. For example I have no recollection whatsoever of the collapse of the Soviet Union. The moon could have gone out and I wouldn't have noticed.
This record stirs some memories of watching Trainspotting on video and taking increasing amounts of alcohol fuelled sick leave.
I think that the original had no tracklisting because it was hurriedly  recorded and  released?
Anyway, I found this in a charity shop this week. No idea what happened to my original copy. I probably left it in that strange and inhospitable country- the past.

Extreme Noise Terror- A Holocaust In Your Head (1988)

During the mid eighties a new genre emerged under the influence of hardcore punk bands such as Discharge and Chaos UK. Genres and microgenres aren't really my thing, and there have been a variety of terms used to describe this sound. I think that the name of this band sums it up nicely.

This was the band's appearance at the 1992 Brit Awards in collaboration with The KLF (having being denied a spot on 1991's Xmas Top of the Pops they at last achieved the level of exposure they deserved- a TV audience in excess of 5 million).

The JAMs- It's Grim Up North (1990-91)

Bolton, Barnsley, Nelson, Colne, Burnley, Bradford, Buxton, Crewe, Warrington, Widnes, Wigan, Leeds, Northwich, Nantwich, Knutsford, Hull, Sale, Salford, Southport, Leigh, Kirkby, Kearsley, Keighley, Maghull, Harrogate, Huddersfield, Oldham, Lancs, Grimsby, Glossop, Hebden Bridge. Brighouse, Bootle, Featherstone, Speke, Runcorn, Rotherham, Rochdale, Barrow, Morecambe, Macclesfield, Lytham St. Annes, Clitheroe, Cleethorpes, the M62. Pendlebury, Prestwich, Preston, York, Skipton, Scunthorpe, Scarborough-on-Sea, Chester, Chorley, Cheadle Hulme, Ormskirk, Accrington, Stanley, Ossett, Otley, Ilkley Moor, Sheffield, Manchester, Castleford, Skem, Doncaster, Dewsbury, Halifax, Bingley, Bramhall.

I consider Bill Drummond to be an artist of unparalleled genius.

It's Grim Up North was first released in December 1990 as a limited edition "Club Mix" with Pete Wylie on vocals
KLF Communications released a re-recorded version with Bill Drummond on vocals in October 1991. This was the last release under the name The JAMs

Through the downpour and diesel roar, Rockman and Kingboy D can feel a regular dull thud. Whether this is the eternal echo of a Victorian steam driven revolution or the turbo kick of a distant Northern rave is irrelevant. Thus inspired, The JAMS climb into the back of their truck and work.

What we have here are the Club Mix, the Radio edit, the full version and the Omsk Mix along with Jerusalem on the Moors.
