Wesley's music is the direct result of a collaboration of efforts from a variety of talented musicians, with an array of musical backgrounds. A seasoned blues/rock drummer, a Celtic fiddle player known to pick up the mandolin or guitar on occasion, and a classically-trained bassist with heavy-metal tendencies spike the music with unusual flavor. The music is driven with a Texas Rock sound and country attitude, and after five years of searching for the right mix of band members, the current lineup brings more to the music than Wes could've hoped for; character, color, and soul.
Wesley Cox credits the bulk of his musical development to his parents broad taste in music. "One minute I'd be in the house watching my mother dance to Johnny Cougar and George Jones, the next Id be in the car laughing at my dad playing air guitar to The Rolling Stones and Survivor." At age 16, Wesley figured out some guitar chords by watching a Poison video and began writing songs. When he hit college, Wesley got a chance to see Jerry Jeff Walker live at Gruene Hall where he found a genre for the 20 or so songs that hed already written. Texas Country.
Two years experience honing their live show while sharing the stage with well-known acts such as Chris Knight, Brandon Rhyder, and The Derailers set a foundation for the success they've had this year. The Wesley Cox Band's debut CD has kicked things into high gear!
