NBA
At his current scoring average this season of 25.5 points, he will cross 40,000 in about 39 games.
To score 39,000 points, Lebron has taken 28,264+ shot attempts in NBA games. That’s about 20 shots per game. He will likely pass Kareem in the next ~5 games for most FGAs in NBA history at 28307.
Two questions to comment on:
-
How many total practice shots do you think he has taken in his career?
They say it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill, and Lebron has clearly crossed that. He’s been playing basketball since he was 10. Let’s say he started practicing in earnest at 14. How many practice shots do you think he takes per day? In his NBA career, between practice and pregame, he has to average 200-300 shots per day (easily). He plays in season about 8 months a year, for now 21 years.
Factoring in conservative estimates, he likely has crossed 1,000,000-1,500,000 shot attempts of a basketball in his life. That doesn’t factor in any of his attempts before the age of 18, and also doesn’t factor in any shots in the off-season. I also don’t know how many shots he averages a day (online sources indicate most players shoot 200-500 a workout).
If anyone else has any data to help inform this model please add.
But this brings me to question #2.
2. What in your life have you done 1,000,000 times?
The only thing I can thing of is breaths, swallowing, or blinking. Which means Lebron had shot more basketball shots than the average human does anything other than core functions in their life

For me it's easily Klay. Pure textbook, Steph, carmelo, JR, Kobe, etc, theres more, but i think klay is just too smooth.

He’s just so bad man, IQ hasn’t progressed and he seems to have even regressed on the defensive end.

Is it just me or has r/NBA been dunking on the Pistons extra hard lately? It’s not like they don’t deserve it but I see 3-4 posts daily about how shitty this team and organization are. The average nba fan is starting to realize just how poorly ran this team has been the last couple years.
On tonight's episode, the guys recap Tuesday's five-game tournament slate. Plus, we have the latest editions of Shaqtin' a Fool and Neat-O Stat of the Night.

How yall feel abt it. I wish courts could be better, but it brings intensity and players want to compete, which matters for us fans. I hope there can be a better incentive though. Maybe moving up a seed at the end of the season (unless your the 1 seed) if you win the tourney. For example if your the 7th seed, you can get out of the play in by going to the 6th seed, which would make teams try even more imo. It also gives no reason for tanking teams to win since they wanna be low, not high.
The Blazers have joined the Pistons, Spurs, Grizzlies, and Wizards as officially relegated to playing the spoiler role in the tournament. Better luck next year.
Went to attempt to grab a hobby box of the new Hoops and logged in with a minute left on the timer until launch and saw the price was $205. Immediately shut down my computer and went to bed.
These boxes retail are typically only $120–$150.
I actively enjoy hoops, but I’m not paying $200 for a box. I’ll stick to blasters ig

Very interesting video by Jxmy ok youtube

Thanks to www.craftednba.com you can (statistically) compare any NBA players since 1978.
Jxmy goes with Tatum and the result is… Durant 2010! That’s a nice company.
So I visited craftednba and input Jaylen Brown and selected results for other player around his current age.
And here are the results:
Offense 89% Isaiah Rider 2000 88% Corey Brewer 2013 88% Juan Dixon 2006 88% Monta Ellis 2012 & 2013
Defense 96% Danny Granger 2011 / 95% 2012 95% Cameron Payne 2021 95% Lionnel Simmons 1995 95% Lonnie Shelton 1984 Then Anthony Bowie 1992, Billy Owens 1996 annnnd Brian Scalabrine 2005. Yesss sir!
It’s fun to bring names from the past !
And now let’s get ready for Giannis
Let’s go C’s 🏀☘️
Wow what a nutty day ahead. I have to work until around 3pm West time so I'm posting this up earlier than normal, and prior to the majority of news. There will be a massive amount of news to come today, or at least there better be to help sift through this. 14 mother fuckin games is a lot to handle. Here are the games I'm really looking at to build around.
Washington @ Charlotte (Cha -4 o/u 242)
I love this game. You should too. We've seen them play each other twice already, and the teams rotations are, for the most part, pretty easy to digest. Charlotte recently brought back Miles Bridges from suspension and they haven't wasted any time inserting into a massive role. His usage rate has been about 18%, just a few down from his 22% during the 21-22 season where he really flourished. Obviously a small sample size, but that's a quick re-entry to a significant role. His minutes have been massive, got PJ Washington moved to the bench last game, and with Nick Richards OUT again, will likely see some run with the second unit here again as the hornets don't have much size depth. Washington is not a good team in any aspect. Miles Bridges $7100 and Mark Williams $6800 are both very very strong plays today. Brandon Miller has a favorable price at $5800 and Lamelo Ball is gonna do his thing at $9900. He's been great of late, and is this teams engine. They should be firing coming off that win in Boston, and they have the talent to put up numbers. Ride this teams high here. You can play Kuzma $7900 or Tyus Jones $5500 on the other side if you want some wizard exposure to run it back (obligatory "Fuck Jordan Poole"). But Im really falling for the Hornets plays here, all 3 of Ball/Bridges/Williams are positively correlated, and are in a smash spot.
Brooklyn @ Atlanta (ATL -4 233 o/u)
Atlanta has to suit up again after one of the silliest displays of defense outside of the All Star Game I have ever seen. Don't expect similar production tonight from the squad, but there's nothing wrong with a 233 total. I really like what I saw in terms of defensive potential (or lack thereof) for Brooklyn here. Cam Johnson at $5900 catches my eye as someone who could thrive in the type of environment we just saw, and the same goes for Spencer Dinwiddie at $6300. DSJ, Cam Thomas, and Ben Simmons are all OUT once again which keeps the Nets rotation tight. Lonnie Walker saw a massive price hike up to $5700 so I'm not getting to him. He's very unlikely to see minutes in the 30s again here. Mikal Bridges at $7600 is super interesting as well. DFS ar $4300 is only if we are desperate for value. Hard to imagine it ends up that way, but you never know. The Hawks closed without Capela or Okungwu tonight which kinda scares me off of Nic Claxton. But he has absolutely shown that a price of $7000 is in his range of outcomes. Not sure I get there. On the Hawks it's Jalen Johnson $6600 or Clint Capela $6300 for me. Their the safest bets. The other guys eat into each other's scoring too much. I wouldnt be shocked at all if this team gets someone some rest tonight. Keep an eye out.
Milwaukee @ Boston (Bos -5.5 o/u 235)
Studfest alert. Game of the night alert. It won't be super easy to load up here, because the dudes are all expensive, and rightfully so, but this should be a great game. Too good for me not to include. My advice on this game is to fade it and hope everyone just has fun out there and everyone shares the ball, and everyone gets to play and get in on the action. Or to force Jayson Tatum into your lineup. He went full John Wick against the Hornets and that still wasn't enough. I expect some of his momentum to carry over. White $6100 and Jaylen Brown $7500 have friendly prices for their potential. Jrue Holiday $6900 is in a revenge spot (not playing Dame here for that reason). Dame averages 25/6/5 vs jrue in his career, which is solid but not electric for $8700 and this will be the first time he guards him since making his family move halfway across the country. That guy Giannis is pretty good too. I'm not gonna play him. If he goes for 70+ again, so be it.
Toronto @ Indiana (ind -4 o/u 237)
Very very rare to see the Raptors have one of the higher totals on the slate. Very rare to face a defense that does less than the Pacers do. Tyrese Haliburton at $10200 somehow got a price drop of $100 after breaking the slate but this matchup is no bueno. Is he matchup proof? Maybe. I'm off the Pacer side here. Myles Turner at $7300 is my favorite pacer, followed by Bruce Brown $5200. The raptors side sees the bigger benefit with this game imo, guys like Siakam $8100 and Scottie Barnes $9100 should be able to have his way with these wings, and even OG Anunoby at $6100 looks good. He'll get some extra shots up in the pace up spot, and will likely be heavily relied upon for defense. Gary Trent $4900 got a price bump after shitting the bed. I think it's a really good spot for him to jack up some shots, but there's a lot of risk there.
Kings @ Pelicans (Sac -2 o/u 237)
Kings news will be something to watch here as Keegan Murray, Chris Duarte, Trey Lyles and Sasha Vezenkov are all questionable. Keon Ellis and Alex Len are OUT. They have a massive game against the Timberwolves coming up on Friday, so it wouldn't surprise me at all to see them rest up 1 or 2 of these guys. I think Keegan is the highest risk with his injury being a back injury and his role being of the most value to the team. If Keegan sits, expect one of Duarte or Sasha to slide into the starting lineup, if they all sit, it'll be Kessler Edwards who slides into that role. He doesn't do much offensively but is active on the boards and on defense. Totally fine to get to a starter at $3500. Harrison Barnes $4700 Malik Monk $5200 and Kevin Huerter $5300 will likely be relied upon heavily, and maybe even Davion Mitchell $3900 or Colby Jones $3600 gets some wing minutes. Sabonis $10100 and Fox $9700 are great, but their prices on this slate, aren't. The talent is there, but I just think theyre tough to bank on. Much safer options around their price tags. I love the mid range plays though and the potential for value. On the New Orleans side, Zion was absolutely unstoppable last time out. Barnes stood no chance trying to keep him out the paint and I don't see any reason why that won't happen again. The Kings good defenders are on the wing, and more likely to guard BI effectively than Zion. Both Zion and Jovial absolutely destroyed the paint last time. Zion is far more likely to repeat than Joval is. I like him a lot, along with a lot of the other power forward options around his price of $8100.
Golden State @ Phoenix (Pho -2.5 o/u 232.5)
This is really a fun one to look at. Golden State broke their losing streak the other night, and a lot of that had to with the fact that Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson showed some signs of being NBA level basketball players again. Klay is the same price as Eric Gordon at $5400. And its warranted L O fucking L. Wiggins at $5100 is pretty much the same play as Grayson Allen $4900. How the mighty have fallen. Speaking of falling. Steph is below 9k. That's not funny. How can you not force him in at that price in a big game like this. Won't be easy with this many games and not an insane amount of value to be had as of now but that price is going to come back up sooner than later. On the other side Booker is at a flat $10000 and KD just a little higher at $10300. I don't see why this game should be viewed any different in terms of playing the studs than the Bucks/Celtics game, but I have a feeling it will be much more underowned. The later games just tend to be that way. Could be a really good one to have the stars in. I really like the idea of a Curry/Booker 1 and done type of stack in tournaments.
Mavericks @ Lakers (LA -1.5 o/u 236)
News to watch for in this one as the Lakers just played a game but it was a blowout. AD is awful in back to backs, see his most recent performance vs one Domantas Sabonis, but Derek Lively is not that. Dallas is beyond awful inside. If there's any spot to be confident in AD on a back to back, it's here. This could absolutely be a Lebron showcase and Luka Doncic does his thing more often than not. The Lakers have been sneaking into winning lineups a lot lately as the late night hammer, as well. I think it's similar to the PHX/GS situation. You have to make a stand on these stars. You can't play em all today, but loading up these late games packs some intrigue with their potential for low ownership and the ability to switch around if news is lagging behind (like the kings). I'll definitely have a lineup structured around the stars from this game or the suns/warriors (or maybe even both! Scared money don't make money) that doesn't have any plays before the 5pm (west coast) start time in order to build in that fashion.
SGA - already ALL-NBA 1st Team, don’t see that changing anytime soon
Jalen Williams - give him three years and will be an ALL-NBA 3rd Team player
Chet Holmgren - give him three years and he will be an ALL-NBA 3rd Team player
The Thunder are back. Thoughts?
I was talking to my friends trying to find a path for Murray to get his big extension. We couldn't not see how he could make an all nba team. Even in good health he was going to have to beat out the likes of De'Arron Fox, Steph Curry, Luka, SGA, Donovan Mitchell, Dame. These are all last years selections. Even if a couple of them drop out Jamal will have to beat out Trey Young, Brunson, Haliburton, Maxey, Booker, Anthony Edwards. The problem is that Murray is not asked to put up big numbers every night like most of these other guys. I just don't see how he can make all nba unless Jokic is out significant time and the nuggets don't miss a beat, but that is just unrealistic. Just take the money while you can blue arrow.
