Kid Dynamite – S/T & Shorter Faster Louder

Artist: Kid Dynamite
Album: Self Titled & Shorter, Faster Louder
Year: 1998/2000
Genre: Hardcore Punk
Label: Jade Tree
Order: Here

I first heard Kid Dynamites Self Titled album when I was about twelve years old. I had never heard anything like it before, it was punk, it was hardcore and emotional. Jason Shevchuk still goes down as one of my favourite vocalists of all time. Both of these albums are classics when it comes to my collection and I would reccomend them to anyone at anytime. I need not say more about this… Check it out, maybe it’s up your alley, maybe it’s not.

Here’s my bands first demo CD we’ve ever dropped (Plus the very newest demo track, my personal favourite so far, so check that one!). Terribly hand crafted with colourful paper, spray paint, staples and crayons! Haha.

We play whatever comes out. Sometimes it’s rockin’, sometimes it’s ska, but it’s always hip hop. It’s all live instruments except for the drum tracks because we went through three drummers and finally called it quits in that department.. But if you are from the Durham Region and are interested, let me know!

Anyways, I don’t know haha, if you wanna hear something different and totally underground, check this out. Oh, and feel very free to comment, good or bad! I just wanna know what people think!

So around the end of my school term my living arrangments got all fucked up and I had to move out.. Leaving me homeless and internetless. As many of you were right, this place WAS dead… Yeah yeah you heard me, WAS dead. I’ll start updating again soon I promise. Things got fucked up and I still don’t have internet, I just found a place in the local Cafe I can steal it from haha. Please check back, don’t leave forever.

Doomtree – False Hopes (2007)

Artist: Doomtree
Album: False Hopes
Year: 2007
Label: Doomtree Records
Order Online: Doomtree.net

For those uninitiated, the 11 person collective is made up of RSE’s P.O.S., Dessa, Cecil Otter, Sims, Mike Mictlan on the vocal front and Lazerbeak, Paper Tiger, Turbo Nemesis, MK Larada, Tom Servo and Emily Bloodmobile on the boards, decks, etc. With so many hands in the pot, everyone has to make the most out of their moment to shine, particular the emcees. As a result, there is so much disenchantment and anger packed into each verse that it would be hard-pressed for the listener not to feel deftly energized (or decidedly claustrophobic and overwhelmed) after hearing just one song from the group. Tracks like Knives On Fire, Dessa’s solo cut Veteran and No Homeowners (Renter’s Rebate) exemplify the fervent eloquence of disappointment and “anguished apathy” funneled through the group’s heady vocal appreciation of Bone Thugs ‘N Harmony, Freestyle Fellowship and Blackalicious. Even a mellow track like A Hundred Fathers manages to press the listener’s ears with the rapper’s inebriated lyrical expression and vivid descriptions of haunted towns and imaginary monsters. In other words, some Hip Hop fans will bite and others will find this eclectic approach towards rapping a detriment to Doomtree‘s music.”

Definitely in the top five best albums released last year. I highly suggest you pick this one up and give it a listen.

02. Slow Down Gandhi (Losaka Remix)
03. Hey Bobby (Renanimator Remix)
