How much enjoyment per hour has your rig cost you? by similiarintrests in simracing

[–]hylanderrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a G27 for ~$400 in 2010. I would estimate I ran around 50 league races in NR2003 with it, with an average of one hour per race. I have close to 900 official races on iR, at around an average of 20 minutes per race. Let’s say... 20 league races on iR at an average of one hour per race.

50 hours on NR2003 300 hours on iR official races 20 hours on iR league races

370 hours for $400, and that doesn’t include all of the practice time I’ve spent in sim.

They're just gonna dodge any discussion about expansion for as long as they can by Harmonmj13 in CoDCompetitive

You don’t have to understand business to know that a league with a $25 million buy-in that tops out at 100,000 viewers during a major will have a difficult time getting investors. Activision used the CDL as a quick cash grab and, in doing so, priced themselves out of future expansion.

G923 or G920 for iRacing by hylanderrrr in iRacing

What about the pedals? From my understanding, the brake pedal on the G923 is softer than the previous generation. Is that true?

My G27 brake pedal spring broke and now it can't be calibrated - how can I fix it? (description of problem in replies) by hylanderrrr in simracing

I've tried three different springs on the pedal now, and unfortunately none of them have fixed the issue.

No, I think the potentiometer IS fried. The pedal is coming back to 0, but the pressure I'm applying isn't consistent with what the software is detecting. I'm seeing the input move up and down while I'm on track as I'm keeping consistent pressure in the pedal.

First - I've had this thing since 2010. It is old. I am not in a position to comfortably replace the pedals right now, though, so my best bet is to try to find a fix.
I replaced the spring with the GT Eye brake pedal mod, so there is no longer a broken spring. I also swapped the tubing/piston from the clutch pedal to the brake pedal.

Now my issue is that, no matter what I do, the brake pedal doesn't seem to want to calibrate. As you can see in the image, iRacing is detecting 25% input but the calibration positioning (for lack of better terms) isn't mimicking the input. This leads to very inconsistent braking as I don't know whether to put more force into the input to get the desired braking.

Anybody know what could cause this?

Challengers Scene. by -Beezeey- in CoDCompetitive

[–]hylanderrrr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be completely honest with you..

As somebody who has invested thousands of dollars and years of life into the AM COD scene, I can tell you that this is nothing but a money pit right now. The CDL has taken away all incentives for non-franchises organizations to enter Call of Duty esports. There is no ROI on COD esports right now for any Challenger’s team, and there likely isn’t even ROI for teams in the league.

If you are 100% committed to this, your best bet is to find AM players on Twitter. This is how you will find their streams, tourneys, etc. and will provide access to other players. @intelCDL is a good place to start as he periodically updates teams and tournaments at the Challenger’s level.

DC-Area Theaters Extend Vaccine, Mask Requirements by jackspratdodat in Coronavirus

[–]hylanderrrr 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Why the vaccine requirements? If the goal with this is to prevent spread, then I think by now we know that the current vaccines won’t do much. They should be focusing on keeping the air clean by improving ventilation or installing air purifiers.

Has anyone experienced bad neck pain from Invisalign? by paulrudder in Invisalign

[–]hylanderrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m a bit late on this, but yes, I experienced quite a bit of neck pain while using Invisalign. It continued for two years or so after treatment stopped, and all but disappeared when I stopped using my retainers. Now every time I pop my retainers in (for fear of my teeth moving all the way back), I again experience the same neck pain.

Ultra Academy NA by themaxmilestone in CoDCompetitive

[–]hylanderrrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m beating a dead horse, but it will be incredibly difficult to get investors to pay up $25 million to a league that has shown minimal growth and ROI. Fans and players want expansion, but the inherent flaw with the CDL is that it has priced itself out of expansion.

Call of Duty League (2022) | Pro-AM Classic | Day 2 | Official Discussion Thread by CoDEvents in CoDCompetitive

Or maybe they're just better at SND? The gap between pros and AMs isn't really that big. Actually it seems that there might not be a gap at all based on some of these outcomes.

Every CDL tournament should be the format of the pro-am but double elim by vKEITHv in CoDCompetitive

[–]hylanderrrr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What is the point of a buy-in though? All it has done is limit the league to 12 teams and create a separation between pros and AMs. Players wanted some type of protection from bad contracts and Activision used it as an opportunity to make $300 million.

[–]hylanderrrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This format is almost identical to the format used by the CWL/MLG. I’m not sure if I’m in the majority here, but I dislike the CDL so much because it separated the pros from those trying to become pro. If nothing else, this tourney has showed that there’s not really that big of a gap between the pros and AMs.
