NIGHT SUN - Mournin’

Yet another amazing discovery in the realms of unheralded heaviness from the '70s. Krautrockers NIGHT SUN released this, their only album, back in 1972, and probably the only heavier sounds produced on earth that year were produced by BLACK SABBATH. In addition, the group played a loud, DEEP PURPLE-like rock, with a characteristic "heavy progressive" instrumentation of twin guitars, organ, bass and drums. A terrific instrumental battles and screaming voices.

TANGERINE DREAM – Pergamon Live at the 'Palast der Republik' GDR

This is by far the best Tangerine Dream’s live album composed of two quite different tracks. Side´s 1 is rather mellow, opening with a beautiful melodic piano passage and continues with helium-boosted floating keyboards textures. Then repetitive melodic sequencers begin through floating and dreamy keyboards. The ensemble is extremely hypnotic and spacey, being absolutely neither linear nor monotonous. It is actually partly the live experience of some parts of the Tangram album that transports you into an ethereal quiet world. Side’s 2 however is the real jewel, the atypical build up from all TD's members until Edgar Froese plays which must undoubtedly rank as one of his best guitar solo. All the time Schmoelling and Franke's input of equally high standard. There is also a Force Majeure feel to this piece as well which he arks back to their peak from a creative standpoint. The energy on this album throbs and pulses and guarantees to get your adrenalin going. The loudest played the best captured.

RUSTICHELLI & BORDINI – Opera Prima

Mellotron, mellotron and more mellotron, garnished with organ, side of C3 Hammond and sautéed with piano. Another excellent and compelling one-shot band from the italian scene of the seventies. Paolo Rustichelli and Carlo Bordini were a very talented duo of musicians who decided to elaborate what would habe been their unique album combining only two kinds of instruments: keyboards in all their pompous and soft variety (organ C.3 Hammond, Mellotron, Arp V.C.S. 3, piano) and drums always well played. If you ever wanted to hear what ELP might have sounded like with Mellotron then this is your chance. However Rustichelli & Bordini aren't mere ELP clones. This is one great album. In my opinion this is a 'must have' album for all proggers.

AMOS KEY – Keynotes (The Lost Tapes, SWF – Session 1973)

For the first time on CD: The radio session of classical rock influenced great German krautrockers Amos Key. Amos Key owed great debts to Bach, Beethoven and Schumann, adding a heavy krautrock twist to a music closely resembling the Nice or Egg, full of angst and weird psychedelic and space-rock touches (Freeman Brothers: In A Crack In The Cosmic Egg). Amos Key lived in Munich and consisted of great organ-player Thomas Molin, congenial bass-player Andreas Gross and superb drummer Lutz Ludwig. This fairly competent outfit recorded the radio sessions before they released their famous and very rare album "First Key" in 1973 on label "Spiegelei". Sadly bandleader and organ-player Thomas Molin passed away in the 90ies but bass-player Andreas Gross tells the band story in a very vivid and funny way. 24 pages booklet contains also a lot of unseen photos. Sound is perfect; Remastered from the original tape. Dont miss this superb item.
