Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu

07 October 1931 – 26 December 2021

We are the official legacy organization of one of the world’s most iconic leaders, and his life-long partner.

Founded in 2013, the Tutu Legacy Foundation strives to preserve the legacy of the Tutus, while taking their example into the future by growing and facilitating powerful and courageous voices of uncompromised bravery in the world.

WHAT WE DO

Guided by the values of its Founders, the Foundation aims to nurture the courage to heal from the wounds of discrimination, prejudice, and conflict in societies across the world.

This takes place through the development of popular education and public engagement on the Arch and Mrs Leah Tutu’s life and example, deep facilitated processes of courageous conversation, the development of leaders of moral courage, and advocacy on key issues of freedom, justice, and equality across the world.

WHY ARE WE HERE

To contribute towards the nurturing of moral leadership;

To facilitate the dialogue and debate of reconciliation; to support programmes and event which are underscored by the values of Desmond and Leah Tutu; and which make use of the rich archival heritage curated by the Foundation.
