Big Audio Dynamite - Live On "Meltdown" (UK TV Show)

Another one from the same Gareth VHS tape as the S.O.D. one. This is Big Audio Dynamite.....so fans of The Clash and particulary Mick Jones might have an interest in this one. Demob - Live Bristol 24-02-06

I get very influenced by fellow bloggers and once again Jeffen over at http://musicruinedmylife.blogspot.com/ has done it again with his cracking Demob post. So this one is for you Jeff.

Alas this is not a full gig. I think whoever filmed this came in half way through but its Demob so I'm grateful to have anything of them on film. I brought this on ebay for less than a price of a pint so I can't complain. Its only 26 minutes and its 255mb. As its not professionally shot its not exactly DVD quality and sound wise its like one of my vinyl rips! If that hasn't put you off then nothing will. Enjoy.

Spear Of Destiny - On UK TV show "Bliss" (VHS Rip)

Someone once commented on this blog that it was good but had a little too much Kirk Brandon on it. Well sorry mate but heres a bit more for you. Shame about the 80's clothes though!

Punk On Top Of The Pops (VHS Rip) Part 10

Like most things on this blog this is a bit arse about face and due to the techinal problems mentioned on the last post,I am unable to up parts 8 and 9 at the moment. As part 10 only has 4 songs on it and is only 93mb I can upload it without the "dreaded" winrar. So this is an unwrapped errorless avi file.

Featuring the classic Gary Gilmore's Eyes from the Adverts and Eddie & The Hot Rods (Just the Rods for the this single) anthem Do Anything You Want To Do. And just for a good giggle,The Exploited's "Des Says"

Edit - Part 8 is has been re-upped without winrar via megaupload (see below)

Punk On Top Of The Pops (VHS Rip) Part 8

The highlights on this segment has to be the one and only appearance on the show of The Vibrators and another look at the beautiful Faye Fife.

Theres more than one way to skin a cat but alas I have had to use megaupload due to winrar being so moody. So again this an avi file not wrapped up. It might take longer to download but at least there won't be any errors.

Friday 11 September 2009

September 11th 2001 is a day all of us will never forgot. I got a phone call just before 9am telling me to put the TV on and spent the rest of the day watching the horror unfold inbetween a whole load of other phonecalls and texts.

Watching that 2nd plane go into the WTC thanks to live TV pictures was unreal and watching both towers collape was....well there isn't a word for it. Its unimaginable what it must of been like to be on any of the four highjacked planes,to be trapped up in those towers with a choice of being burnt to death or jump or to be a fire-fighter entering one of the towers knowing they were probably going to their death. Or a helpless Policeman, medic, civilian on the ground or parent, friend, relative of someone in those towers or on one of the planes. The panic, the sheer terror, the horror.

Whatever the wrongs of America (I'm not going to go there today) none of those innocent people deserved that. So today my heart goes out to all the relatives and friends that lost loved ones on this day eight years ago.

One great thing came out of 9/11 though in my opinion and that was human spirit. The people of New York were magnificent in the face of adversity. Thats how it came across to me anyway.

Part 7 featuring the first TOTP's appearance from the Cockney Rejects and more hilarious drumming from the Damned's Rat Scabies.

Punk On Top Of The Pops (VHS Rip) Part 6

A Blue Peter chufty badge for the most sarcastic "thank you" comment that makes me laugh :-)

Part 6 (re-upped)

Ten Pole Tudor - Wunderbar
Stiff Little Fingers - Listen
Generation X - Valley Of The Dolls
The Jam - Strange Town
The Skids - Masquerade (2nd appearance)
TRB - 2 4 6 8 Motorway

Thanks for all your comments on the previous post.

First off,the last post was not aimed at the people who regularly comment on here and I apoligise if it came across that way (thats you gonk, nuzz, topper and englishfog for starters)

Second off, thanks for your honesty and good wishes. Its always good to hear from some of the silent majority whatever the circumstances.

Third off,I really don't expect everyone to comment on every bloody post. Really I don't. I'm just feeling fragile at the moment thats all (see paragraph below)

Fourth off, to the anon prick who said "stop being a baby" If you had any idea how much physical pain I am in (which cannot be cured) how fucking depressed I am, how much medication I'm on, how much sleep I am not getting, how I'm currently nursing my dying very elderly neighbour because no-one else seems to give a shit and lastly but by no means leastly, how upset and shocked I am about hearing about yet another death of one of my friends - a great Rasta guy called Dane also a fellow Blue (a recovering addict for the last 6 years who relapsed and died after one hit of smack) then you would be pissed off too. If thats being a baby then yes,I'm a baby.

Now I know I mustn't project all my personal crap onto you lot but yes I am actually a human and if I'm being truthful then I guess I am feeling a little bit sorry for myself at the moment. I do try to maintain a sense of humour but when its on top then its on top. No its not very Punk at all but at least its honest.

Don't worry, you will definately get the rest of the files and normal service will be resumed later (probably today) And I repeat,no,you don't have to comment if you don't want to when you download them. I apoligise your sounding a bit harsh on the last post but I say what I feel at the time be it wrongly or rightly. Its part of who I am (a miserable old bastard!)

Dane was a very special person. He had a great sense of humour and would help anyone. He helped me out alot. Although we couldn't get tickets for the game at Bolton in May 2005 when Chelsea won the League for the first time in 50 years,I was glad I was in his company for that very emotional moment. I will really miss him and I'm truely gutted.

R.I.P. Dane (Keep that Blue flag flying high in the great gig in the sky)

These Punk On Top Of The Pops videos are not only the most downloaded on here to date but also the least appriecated. It takes approximately 2 and a half hours to rip and upload a segment of these. How long does a "thanks" take to write? I was online for a long time yesterday (until 5am this morning actually) and 100's of you have been downloading these files. Thanks to the few that have bothered to comment but to the rest of you especially the ones that can understand English, you really are a bunch of ungrateful women's undercarriages.

I'm not forcing anyone to comment, far from it,I never have on here but bollocks to it - at this moment in my life,I'm going through a pretty tough time of it and I can't be bothered either.

Just like 99.9% of you,I have no further comment to make at this time.

Punk On Top Of The Pops (VHS Rip) Part 1

A while ago on ebay I brought a home made DVD entitled Punk On Top Of The Pops. Its by no means a definitive collection and focus's mainly on the period of 1978/79 but its not totally exclusive to those years and the songs are in no kind of order. Whoever made this DVD obviously ripped it from VHS as the quaility isn't perfect but its good enough. Just about all of it was recorded from the much later broadcasted UK Gold programme (cheers for the correction Marky!)

Theres so much stuff on this so its going to be divided into 10 parts making it easier for you to download (and much easier for me to upload) There will be a daily part uploaded until its completed next week (hopefully!) I think theres 50+ songs altogether.

Top Of The Pops wasn't the best programme for Punk music in the UK by any means (that title went to the short lived "Revolver") but thats the point really. Top Of The Pops was stable and long lived and was broadcasted weekly. Many bands made the programme and many got on it more than once too as you'll see just by watching all this over the next week and a half.

So I hope you enjoy what you are about to recieve. Enjoy the hilarious miming from the likes of The Stranglers,The Damned,Sham's Jimmy Pursey and especially Sir Bob Geldorf with his Boomtown Rats. Theres plenty of The Jam to spread about, drool over Blondie once more or if you can't quite make the toilet in time, then theres always the Skids! Plus many many more to enjoy.

Part 1 (re-upped)

Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen In Love
Sham 69 - Hurry Up Harry
The Jam - Down In The Tube Station At Midnight
Sham 69 - Questions And Answers
The Skids - Charade
Blondie - Picture This

The Adverts - Live In Germany (1979)

This is a 15 minute snippet from the German movie "Brennende Langeweile" by Wolfang Büld (yes him again) I'd love to have a full version of this German film with English subtitles so if such a thing exists and you know where I can buy it or you have it,then please share it!

For now though and for those who may not have seen The Adverts in the film, heres one of the very best Punk bands of all time performing 5 tracks live. Worth downloading just to see Gaye Advert.

Vocalist TV Smith continues to write great songs and still performs live to this very day. Note the video cuts out just before the end of the last song (not my rip but someone on soulseek's...cheers whoever you were) Awesome stuff.

A small file at only 73mb.

Tracks

1) Gary Gilmore's Eyes
2) Love Songs
3) Televisions Over
4) I Surrender
5) Great British Mistake
