ReplyDeleteFor Jab Jones on piano our friend needs the recordings by Sleepy John Estes which he is more likely to find on Bluestown or another blues specialist site, although there are of course recordings of Jab playing jug with the Memphis Jug band, from whose leader Will Shade Willshade takes his name.
ReplyDeleteRUMBA NEGRA was the first Moten record on which Basie played, and everything after that on the second and this third collection.
I must say, it's a great post. the information and the picture you put up here is not only good but also proved very helpful for my research work. For my research work, I need to collect info and while doing this recently, I have found out really some good stuff about R&B and Soul music at http://www.raresoulgrooves.com
