Evening all.here is a really interesting post i received yesterday from Mr Camden Dave.It's a show originally broadcast on Radio 4 in 2009 In which as the title suggests the history of the bootleg recording is traced from the earliest recordings at the Metropolitan in New york in the late 1800's through the 60's and 70's up to the present day(well 2009 at least!).an interesting piece to listen to on your commute to work or similar it runs just under an hour and is well worth a listen.so please listen enjoy and leave a comment,thanks!

this is a post i got sent a while back and once again cant remember who sent it,so if its you please say hello so i can say thanks!its as its title suggests its 3 demos recorded i believe in 1981.ive been told before that one track is actually fun boy 3 but i was also told by another source that it was recorded in the same session as the other two tracks by the specials.im a bit confused now so ill leave it up to you to decide.i really like all the tracks and i think you will too.so now all you have to do is listen,enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!

Cd1 is demos and Cd2 is a live set from 1975 recorded in Derby. Over 50 tracks in total for your listening pleasure. Calling Clash Fans - Should i buy this?

As you may have gathered by now i am a bit of a Clash obsessive.This mega deluxe box set is released in September and contains remastered versions of all studio albums,discs of demos rarities,live tracks ,dvd's of official videos,reprints of armagideon times,stickers badges etc etc etc and all presented in boom box style packaging designed by Paul Simonon. Now my dilemma as i own all the albums on vinyl and cd (although i cant find the sandinista vinyl!)is whether or not to buy this set.it does come with some choice extras(although i dont know the track listing of the demos and rarities) and would look feckin great in my living room with the rest of my collection. On amazon its available to pre-order for £111.81p. if i dont get it now should i wait till it comes out and then risk having to pay more or take a chance that it will be available for a bit less. I missed out when the cd-singles box set came out first but want to get that as you can get it on amazon now for about £20-25.so what should i do?buy it or forget about it?wait and risk missing out?anyway over to you listeners.id really appreciate your thoughts on this.thanks very much

Happy Birthday Blog

just realised the blog celebrated its 4th birthday a few weeks ago.never thought id make it 1 month but 4 years?anyway its been a blast so far and i hope i can(gobby junior and work permitting!!)keep going for more.thanks to all for visiting,leaving comments,nicking posts and then reposting them elsewhere,making requests,sending links,cd's,dvds,concert tickets and other assorted bits of tat(!)through the post,ive loved all of it.please keep sending stuff (posters ,flyers badges and tshirts would be nice!!)as we raise a glass or two to another 4 years.

If anybody who has a band or label wants a bit of free publicity please feel free to send cd's demos,stickers etc to me (a postal address can be provided)and i will post them,give them as prizes in competitions(now theres an idea!),as i think its about time to move part of the blog in a new direction and try and help in whatever way i can to promoting new music,bands and venues.ive been thinking about doing this for a while and i think with your help we can really do something brilliant.thanks for visting and leave comments letting me know what you think!

The album was made to look like a bootleg because of contractual issues with the record company and the fact that the band had disbanded a few months before. The punk band, fronted by Pauline Murray, was from Newcastle, England. "

The Stranglers - Demos 76 and Rock goes to college 78

a great post from the stranglers today and its another gem from camden dave.its some demos recorded in 1976 and an infamous performance from the BBC tv show 'rock goes to college'.soundwise both are excellent but its the rgtc show that is the stand out for me.the performance is great and it all ends in total chaos and thats all ill say about it!!so please listen,enjoy and if you like please leave a comment.thanks!
