It was a compilation album by Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Jessi Colter and Tompall Glaser. 

Driven by the success of two hit singles -- Jennings and Colter's "Suspicious Minds," and Jennings' "Good Hearted Woman" -- the album sold a million copies, becoming the first country album to be certified platinum.

It was Waylon Jennings’ “Let’s All Help The Cowboys Sing The Blues,” and it changed his life. Two years later he would release one of country music’s most compelling, yet most overlooked concept albums with none other than Waylon Jennings himself in a lead role. Waylon’s wife Jessi Colter, along Waylon Jennings  members of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Bearnie Leadon of the Eagles and Eric Clapton contributed the guitar work also came along for the ride, telling the story of the South during the Civil War through the perspective of four white Southerners.

White Mansions couldn’t be made today. That’s one of many reasons it’s so remarkable and such a country music treasure.

This pair of concept albums was the late-1970s work of an Englishman named Paul Kennerley. Captivated by the voice of Waylon Jennings, Kennerley grew obsessed with images of the American South in the Civil War. He wrote the Civil War song cycle “White Mansions” and leveraged a friendship with Rolling Stones producer Glyn Johns to pull together an incredible cast to bring it to life .The voices of Levon Helm as Jesse, Johnny Cash as Frank James, Charlie Daniels as Cole Younger and Emmylou Harris as Jesse’s wife Zee Mimms.

The Highwaymen was a country music super-group composed of four of the genre’s biggest artists well known for their pioneering influence on the outlaw country sub-genre: 

Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson. 

Whenever you combine the greatest men in their trade, you get genius. The album is an amazing compilation of talent and song writing. These men are legendary country music singers on their own, and when you

combine them, you get something special.

The first two albums released by the group, as well as the majority of their singles, were not credited to "The Highwaymen," but to "Waylon Jennings.

PINK  FLOYD  -  THE  REUNION CONCERT  2005.

Held 18 years ago today, Live 8 saw a string of historic concerts take place in the G8 states on July 2nd 2005. The run of shows were iconic for a number of reasons, a time when the great and the good of music came together to fight against global poverty which even saw Pink Floyd’s full line-up reunite for one last time at London’s Hyde Park.

Organised by Bob Geldof, and watched by an estimated three billion people worldwide, the London event was just one in a series of concerts held around the globe in Philadelphia, Paris, Berlin, Rome and elsewhere.

The Hyde Park concert saw the likes of Paul McCartney performing with U2 as well as a solo set from the former Beatle. The Who also took to the stage as did The Killers, Snoop Dogg, Madonna and a bizarre duet of T. Rex’s ‘Children of the Revelation’ from Elton John and Peter Doherty. 

Despite the big names in attendance, it was Floyd’s reunion that was the show-stealer.

On 2 July 2005, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright performed together as Pink Floyd for the first time in more than 24 years, at the Live 8/Make Poverty History concert in London’s Hyde Park. 

They performed 4 songs from the DARK SIDE OF THE MOON.

Three years later RICHARD WRIGHT left this world.

Van Morrison says, “I was still in school when I performed with a skiffle band – a couple of guitars, washboard, tea-chest bass.  I was already familiar with Lead Belly’s recordings so when I heard Lonnie Donegan’s version of ‘Rock Island Line’ I intuitively understood what he was creating, I knew that it was what I wanted to do. ERIC  BURDON    -   MIRAGE   2009.

Released 27/07/2009. Recorded in Los Angeles in 1973, Mirage was one of the finest albums of the 1970s by Animals front man Eric Burdon. The soundtrack for a proposed United Artists film with the Vietnam War as its subject matter, the music recorded by Burdon such as Dragon Lady, River of Blood, Mind Arc and Driftin / Geronimos Last Stand was some of the finest of his career.

Exploring the genres of rock, psychedelia and African beats, the sessions also saw Burdon record the song Mirage, written by Jimi Hendrix on the night he died. Sadly, first the film and latterly a proposed double album release by Atlantic Records were shelved and the Mirage album and sessions were consigned to the archives. This CD release on Esoteric Recordings makes for the album  CD debut in the UK.
