Staying with Stiv Bators,this was The Wanderers 2nd and final single. It never came with a picture cover. Both songs are on the Only Lovers Left Alive album. Well its better than the Bob Dylan version isn't it?
What can I say about this classic? I dunno. If you don't like this then seek medical help!
And to finish on Stranglers related stuff,this was a fan club only release from 1980.
And from 1983 these 2 Stranglers got together and released this little ditty. Both songs are from their album Fire And Water.
And staying on this particular theme,then fellow Strangler Hugh Cornwell's collaboration with Robert Williams from the same year. Both songs are also on the the album Nosferatu.
The debut solo single from Strangler JJ Burnel. Its hard to believe this is 30 years old now.
When punk rock was well and truely down on its arse,Snuff were almost single-handedly keeping it going (or so it seemed at the time) This is later one of theirs from '99.
This one is quite hard to get hold of. This was Patrik's 5th 7'' single. In my humble opinion,not as excellent as the previous four he put out but that doesn't mean its not very good. Everything Patrik puts out is good!

When the Lurkers first reformed back in 1982 without Howard Wall on vocals I was sceptical but Mark Fincham was an admirable deputy. This was their first single in their "new" incarnation on the Clay Label with Pete Stride,Esso and Nigel Moore remaining in the band.
And now for a long lost classic from 1970 from the aptly named Stamford Bridge. I'm not quite sure why I love this one so much but I do : - ) Be honest,I really spoil you lot sometimes! The B side is shite unfortunately, unlike Ossie who was my hero as a kid.
Just last week here on Punk Friction we had a very special guest non other than Trevor Wain the singer from The Teardrops (see comments on the other Teardrops post) Well I mentioned to him I was eyeing this one up on ebay and I made an offer for 7 quid which to my surprise was accepted. So I went the whole hog and also brought the In And Out Fashion 12'' too while I was at it. I'll post that next week if anyone wants it.
This one came with a special Carry On 7'' fanzine. Sounds like they were fans of Carry On films. Not my cup of tea those films I must admit but the single is good and thats all that counts.
You'd just as well have Primary too. Another good one from Robert Smith & crew from a couple of years later. The B side here is just a "dreary" instrumental - not much kop at all in my opinion.
One of my favourite Cure singles alongside Killing An Arab. The much underated Jumping Someone Else's Train from 1979. The B side is more crackly than the A for some reason - I can't think why as I can hardly remember playing it that much.
John Cooper Clarke is a legend. Clever,witty,original and brilliant. I only ever saw JJC the once back in the early 80's at the Elephant Fayre festival supporting Siouxsie. I've never laughed so much at a gig in my life. To be honest I'm not sure if it was JJC or the acid I was on at the time (probably the mixture of both!)
Just for a change some Teardrop Explodes with this double 7''. Don't turn your nose up, this is good.
Just when you thought it was safe to come out of the water - another Jimmy Pursey single turns up from nowhere. Alien Orphan is of course from the album of the same name but the B side is not on any album. This one hasn't got a picture cover and I don't know if one exists or not.
A bit of a strange one this starting with the cover! I have no idea why Borstal Breakout is on it with a strange "from London" introduction either. Hey but who cares. Not many bands have got the stick Sham have over the years but they are one of the bands I love. Just heard they are playing down here later in the year too so I'm one happy Longy today!
And another token gesture while I'm at it. A double A side single,this time from '78. While I'm away at the Football tomorrow,I'll leave you with a another of those "easy" questions.

I must confess I love all the Television Personalities stuff and all their side projects and the Teenage Filmstars were one of them. It seems like a decent time to upload this particular single.
I think its fair to say this is a classic. B side is great too. Nuff said.
This 7'' came free with S*M*A*S*H's debut album Self Abused and the A side is also on re-issued CD versions of the album. The B side isn't but as it says on the label,its S*H*I*T*E.
A great 6 track live 12'' EP by these Welsh Punksters. I brought this one on ebay for 99p a while back. What a bargain! When it came to ripping a live ep I've never heard by a Welsh speaking band,I thought I was going to have problems splitting the tracks but for some reason it all went swimmingly well (for a change!) This one doesn't come with a picture sleeve I'm afraid but the quality of the music makes up for such a disappointment.
One of those singles which alot of people overlooked in '77 due to the vast amount of great stuff that was coming out on a daily basis at the time. Nothing special but too good to be overlooked completely. Personally I think the B side is better.
I haven't got a cover for this one either so again I "borrowed" it from Mr www. If your one of those people that don't really dig the Soft Boys then I understand as I don't either to be truthful. The reason - well I heard the first track on here and thought they would all be as great but unfortunately it was a one off. But what a one off! Wading Through A Ventilator is a true UK 1977 punk rock classic and if for some reason you haven't heard it then I'm jealous at what you are about to experience. Why Wading Through A Ventilator wasn't on the Raw Records Punk Singles Collection CD is a mystery to me. You can even sing along to this one too. They don't this one at my local pub's karaoke night. Shame.
Some more from Mr Geldof's Boomtown Rats. This was their 4th single and it reached the heady heights of number 6 in the UK chart back in 1978. My single is not only crackly but it also didn't come with a picture cover so I've borrowed the art off the net.
Another single from the Rich Kids. Not as good as their debut (Rich Kids) in my opinion but someone might like it (or not)

Hailing from Belfast,its powerpoppy/punk from the Starjets. Its been years since I heard this one.
I've got no idea what year this one came out. This is a bootleg single (live recordings) and it certainly sounds like it too. The first 2 tracks on side 1 are extremely rough but L.A. Woman on the B side is quite listenable. Theres no information about where this was recorded just a plain blank label and extremely thick vinyl. A limited edition of just 200.
This was originally released in 1978 and original copys of this go for silly money - anywhere from between £35-50 quid.
This is a re-up of the pissed up version that was already on here but this one ain't wonky like the previous effort. I managed to gazzump 3 other bidders on ebay with just 12 seconds to go and bag this item for a bargain £4.09p eariler in the week. If you are one of those 3 other bidders, from the bottom of heart.....I really couldn't give a flying fuck! You would of done it to me.
The late Ian Dury was a true legend. Contraversal,funny,anti-establishment and an inspiration to many thousands of people. Even in the months leading up to his impending death in 2000,he never lost his humour. A great great character. Much loved and sadly missed.
The 6th single from Generation X. This came in red vinyl and compared to their previous 5 singles wasn't as good in my most humble one. I definately prefer the B sides here especially Trying For Kicks. No doubt about it though,in their prime Generation X were a great band and top musicians.
