A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is extending a ridge across the east while an inland trough is deepening, directing moist northeasterly airstream in many parts. This weather pattern will be largely unchanged through the coming week due to the slow movement of the inland trough and a cradling high pressure ridge to the south, enabling further build up of moisture across the state and widespread showers or rain and thunderstorms in many parts.
