The music on this blog is out of print (at least that I know) so that none of the bands/labels would be damaged/ripped-off by sharing their music. If for some reason you don't want your stuff to be here just send me a message and I will remove it. I encourage all other to buy the stuff from the bands you like and support the people that keep underground scene alive and kickin'. There's much effort put in these releases, from making the music to artwork and releasing it and it would be a shame to end up just as another lame mp3 folder.
This compilation is much more up my alley than the last one. As the title suggests, it's filled with darker sounding punk bands of which are some of my favourites like Dažd, Warcollapse, Cross Stitched Eyes and Rudimentary Peni. Again this is web release and the bitrates vary from 128 to 320 kbps, so it was strange for me to find out that there is a physical cd-r version (limited to 50 copies) of the compilation with a booklet containing the lyrics. I don't know what's the point of the CD since it's obvious that the compilation is made from the lossy mp3, but if that makes someone happy... Apart from my usual bitching (I won't even bitch about the sound levels), I'd like to say that this is very good compilation without a bad track and I'd recommend it to anyone who's feels like listening to something new (and old). I've included the lyrics in the mp3s and added country and date of each track in the comments.
This is the first from the two compilations that Kostas sent and it is done by B24 label that he is involved into. First of all, I'll get out of the way all the stuff that I don't like with web releases such as this one. The bitrates on the tracks vary from 128 to 320 kbps, but that is not the biggest issue. It's the different loudness levels between the tracks. If it was be adjusted, it could be much more enjoyable. OK, now to the good part. This compilation gathers various music styles, from metal, hardcore punk to doom and experimental. I'm not big fan of experimental(ish) music (even though after a couple of listens A Sun Gone Black track starts to appeal more to me), and if I'd have to pick my favourite bands on the compilation it would be Per Capita, MeinhoF and my favourite punishment for ears: Potop from Macedonia. OK. It's been over one month since my last post (again), so I've put the effort in ripping a double LP this time. That is also a bit of extra effort (by my standards) as today is 3 years since I started this blog and if you look at last year's b-day post, the things are more or less the same with top 10 posts, so I won't do it again. What we have here is Bullshit Detector Vol. 4 inspired by 3 volumes made by Crass Records between 1980 and 1984. These compilations were first introduction to some of nowadays well known bands such as Amebix and Napalm Death among others. The compilation was compiled by Pablo who used to run Resistance Productions (Switzerland) and now is part of Strawberry Punx Records. It was co-released with Örmaal Records (Switzerland), Mass Media Records (USA) and Loony Tunes Records (UK). This LP should be looked more as a D.I.Y. statement (just like the original series, only this time it's international) rather than selection of someones favourite bands. I must add that there was no selection of the bands. It's first 36 bands that submitted their material. The only rule was that they had decent lyrics and no previous vinyl release. The music is recorded by the bands/artists/projects at various places between 1988 and 1994 and the quality of the stuff here is often very, very bad (music and recording-vise), but there are some very good bands too. Some of them already appeared here such as Headache, Recusant, Katastrofialue and Naked Aggression. What Bullshit Detector compilations mean to people can be seen in Naked Aggression's cheating their way to a compilation despite already having vinyl outputs by changing their name to Naked A's. The track appeared later that year on split 7" with Aus-Rotten. I remember laughin' my ass off when I saw that. Now you can proceed to download if you want, but be warned, as the record itself states: Quality is shit, the bands can't play.

I got the idea for posting this compilation after a post on the Mad Blasts Of Chaos blog. This is benefit compilation for Barricade Books, an anarchist book and info shop located in East Brunswick, Victoria, Australia. Since this CD is quite poorly done info-wise (incorrect and incomplete tracklist on the cover, quite confusing booklet...), I can only guess that the bookstore published it 'cause there's no info on that too. But never mind that. Let's focus on the music. Here you can find all sorts of music; from some Lo-Fi (or just plain weird) stuff through straight edge, punk, ska punk, folk punk to crust and even crust with a violin! It's definitely worth checking out if you're unfamiliar with Aussie punk scene like I am.

Lately I'm going through some records that I've hardly ever played and this is one of such. I believe that I got this one from someone, but I guess that too much alcohol in those days have done its job and my memory is quite bad, so I guess I'll never know how I got this. This is (as the title says) second of the Gore Gore Girls compilation series which included female bands. Volume 1 included Xenolith Oger (Japan), Women From Hell (USA) and Roadrunners (Sweden). As far as I could find out from the New Wave Records site this 7" is their last release until 2002 and 7" by Cojoba from Puerto Rico. Since I like to google a bit before posting, there are few more facts that maybe you'd like to know, New Wave Records was (still is?) French label formed in 1983 and it was also a zine (last issue in 2007?). And now back to this record. The bands on it are Voodoo Dolls from Coimbra, Portugal, Uneven from Saint-Etienne, France, X-Syndicate from Pantin, France and PMT from Norwich, UK. Voodoo Dolls play surf/horror punk/psychobilly? mix, two French bands are heaviest and they play hardcore punk. Uneven are kind of slowish and they somehow don't hold my attention while X-Syndicate sound much better to me and the vocalist reminds me a bit of singer Tati (Day By Day, Lost World...). PMT play punk with ska bits thrown in and they are actually the only band I knew before since I had their "In Tomato Sauce" tape. Later their saxophone player Jenny went to play in Ex-Cathedra. I guess that everybody knows this record, but for those few of you that don't - this compilation is probably the most important punk record from Brasil. It was originally released in 1982 on Punk Rock Discos, but my record is 1994 re-release by New Face Records. The bands featured are Olho Seco, Inocentes and Cólera and you know what to expect when all 12 songs last just under 20 minutes. Here's some info about Grito Suburbano from Inocentes KFTH page: During 1981, local punks (including members of the band) started organizing the legendary "Grito Suburbano" ("Suburban Screams") shows that took place all around the city and encouraged many kids to get into punk and start their own bands. Late in that same year, they recorded the compilation of the same name with Cólera and Olho Seco (another band, called Anarcolatras, was also supposed to be on the compilation, but ended up not taking part), but the result was so bad that all the bands had to record it all over again and the record (the first punk LP in Brazil) only came out in early '82.

Since I'll be watching gigs on the coast really soon, I thought that live LP post should fit just fine. I'm not such a big fan of live records, but this one is really good. Summer lazyness has really kicked in, so this post is it's product. I've split the records in five pieces - one per band because I coldn't be arsed to split them into tracks and haven't even tried to write anything, so I just OCRd text by Jan of Your Own Jailer Records who made this record (and the gig). Here it goes: It was a very hot summerday the 15th of June 1986 when the people dressed in black came strolling across the fields towards my home, which also were the place for the gig, the Eggeby Farm. Some were extremely warm in their crust attributes; leather jackets, leather pants and boots. And so the general mood was more apathetic than usual, it was so fucking hot. There wasn't particularly many people seen in this position which were rather unexpected since that was still usual back in those days. Everyone knew that it was a drugfree gig, since we had written that on the postes, so many people thought it was no idea going to the show if they couldn't drink. Not even the free admission could make people think about the music instead of the booze. I had been given a large sum of money, measured in punk standards, 5000 SEK for the sound system and 5000 SEK for bandcosts. The whole thing was recorded on two channels through the mixing console on ordinary cassettes. Some of the songs were brand new so I had to write the bands to get all the correct songtitles. One year later it was released as a 98 minute comp. tape, made in about 250 copys. I still think that the recording has great value because of it's exeptionally good sound qality. Also, some of the songs haven't even been released on vinyl or CD, so I thought that I'd release the shit on a record before the tapes got to demagnetized. With the aid of a good equalizer, compressor and a good two-channel tape recorder I sat down to edit and master the shit. Through the good tape-compression that is available on analogue taperecorders the sound of some songs went out real good. I edited the whole concert which I now have on 1/4" analogue tapes. I have been cutting very much in the recording to get rid of as much "audience talk" as possible. I've thought this way, how fucking interesting is loads of Swedish talk about the beautiful weather, the drummers ass-sweat and Fredda Holmgren to Mr Kawakami in Japan or Bruno in Belgium? (Ok, some guys in Australia or Dan in Minneapolis might enjoy some Swedish shouts from the audience or talk between the songs, for use in some recording or just to learn some new words for a lyric or something.) I've thought that it is the music that is interesting. Sadly some of the "live feling" got lost after all the cuts (KRUNCH made it themselves by the way, they did not have any pauses between the songs). I'm back. I've never had such break since I started this, but I guess I got a bit fed up plus there was some serious drinking to do plus some other real life things, but it was mainly getting offline therapy. Anyway, to make it up, this time I'm bringing double LP with 29 tracks for you to enjoy. This record comes from the Worst Of The 1in12 Club series of compilation LPs put out by the legendary 1in12 club in Bradford. As far as I know there was just one more released after this one (I hope I'm wrong) and I believe that this was the best one. Beginning with the cover artwork by Simon Gane - the standard punk artist in 90s (lately done the cover for the last Subhumans album), to the bands (check out tracklist!!!) playing all types of punk who contributed mostly previously unreleased stuff. This LP was benefit for the Anarchist Black Cross and the Zapatistas and it contained booklet which unfortunately I haven't got with the LP (such things happened a lot to me). The record has quite a lot of clicks and pops as it was heavily abused on my old fucked up turntable, but if you don't have this you should surely check it out as it is great document of the 90s scene. This is a compilation LP from Words Of Warning label located in Bristol, UK. It was in my opinion one of the best labels out there. In the beginning they've put out mostly punk and hardcore bands with some of my all time favourite releases like Oi Polloi's "In Defence Of Our Earth" LP and Resist's "The Solution... Revolution", also some Terminus stuff. Later, they've also put out stuff from hip-hop, techno (Autonomex - see the last post), psychedelic... artists. Such wide taste for musical styles is presented here on this LP. Beside the above mentioned bands, here's also one technoish track and some plain weird stuff and this is where I'll stop. Explaining what kind of music is something that was never my cup of tea. Coffee, actually. Just download this and let the music do the talking. Here's another comp. 7" by Mala Raza. This is their fifth release and the subject covered with this record is free radio. It is benefit for the new transmitter and for their radio shows (one of them mentioned in the previous post).
This 7" is the first release from Mala Raza collective from Zaragoza, Spain. To this day they've delivered stuff from the likes of El Corazón Del Sapo, Karnvapen Attack, Chispas, Criatura, Disface, Makiladoras and more... I remember when I was in Spain with friends of mine from Pula ('98 I think), we met people from the Mala Raza collective and they were very nice and a friend who published music got one whole Autonomia Indigena radio show that they held for introducing his label. That eventually led to releasing one El Corazón Del Sapo album on tape (the only missing format) on his Humanita Nova label and doing Croatian part of their euro tour. Anyway, this compilation was benefit for imprisoned spanish anarchist Pablo Serrano.

I don't have original CD of this, but as I remember this was in cardboard screenprinted cover and I've just photocopied it in black and white. So, the picture of the cover is photoshop coloured after some small picture that I found on the web. Anyway here's another 90s hardcore compilation that I actually never listened carefully until now, because the Stonehenge Records label put out a lot of emo (and that I didn't like), so basically I burnt it because Stalingrad were on it. Now i realise that the "most emo" band on this compilation is Man In The Shadow from Slovenia, the guys that I knew at the time and have two of their 7"s in my collection. The theme of the compilation was something about domination of english language and as you can see it on the cover, all bands are european.

When I was looking for some info on this release it has been called "Under The Sign Of The Lousy Tree: A Black Metal Compilation" or "A U.K. Punk Cooperation" because both sides of the cover look like front cover. I've decided to go with the first one 'cause it's way cooler. This is another compilation 7" with UK hardcore bands similar to this one. The last track goes on forever, so I just made a short fade-out in the end.
This 7" (english title "Over The Walls Of Nationalism And War") came out one year after the war in ex-Yugoslavia ended. There are 2 bands from Macedonia (Brigade O.D. and Überzeitung), Serbia (Totalni Promašaj and Hoću?Neću!) and Croatia (Nula and Bijes Zdravog Razuma) and Wasserdicht from Slovenia. More info in the text from the record: Project "Over the Walls of Nationalism and War" is a compilation 7", which presents 7 bands from the area of ex-Yugoslavia. This whole project is thought of as some kind of a communication between the people of good will, and as a proof that, despite the newcame situation, where mutual intolerance rules, dialogue isn't only possible, but also necessary. Regarding that, this record brings a very strong anti-war message, and wants to speed up the peace process over here, peace process which can found solid ground only if tolerance and peace win over the present atmosphere. This effort is proportionally small, just like there are very few people who, like us, do actually take a stand against the war, and defend it with more than just words, but actually practise their declarative stands. But however, it doesn't matter how small and irrelevant this peace of plastic, with noisy and rebellious sounds may seem, it is also a very big step for us. We like to think of it as big because this effort shows that we are here, and that we have the will and the strength to stand up and say "no!", For us, being against the violence, and war is a normal thing, but we can't simply stand by side and watch how those in power rule over other people's lives. We know that our rebellion may seem to some as banging our heads against the wall, but if you look more closely and realize that the only other alternative is to fit in the mob, and become apathic, than you will understand why do we prefer to keep on banging our heads against the walls of stupidity and primitivism. A few words about us. What kind of people are we? Mostly young, who have accidentally found themselves on the wrong place, in the wrong time, on divided sides of an armed conflict. If we had any effect on the society we live in, there would never be any such conflict whatsoever. We believe that nationalism is one of the main reasons why did all this happen, but also that the roots of the crisis reach much further into the spheres of financial, historical, political, culturological and religious problems. Bands from other parts of ex-Yu aren't on this record, but that's not so because there aren't any or because that they didn't want to cooperate, but because their recordings were unreachable at the time. However, we have managed to establish contact with them recently, so watch out for more crazy people banging their heads against the walls of nationalism and war...
This compilation presents UK hardcore scene of mid 90s. This was supposed to be 10", but due to a lot of fuck-ups and bands splitting the project was shaved off by 3"s. See the tracklist and decide if you'll like it. I know I do. This is the booklet cover. The outer cover was a paperbag with stamped name and a sticker with band names. In the player is Voorhees song from the comp.
