Sistermagpie ,

Yum!

Nothing I love more than a great podcast about a show that's a favorite, but it's often hard for me to find one I like--you know, if you're going to listen to people talk about something that you yourself love to talk about, you better enjoy listening to them and not just want to jump into the podcast and argue with them, or worse yet, be bored. This podcast hits it out of the park (ballerina). The perfect thing to alongside a re-watch.

Even if they do not appreciate my favorite character enough so far. ;-)

home run, ballerina

Dan and Roberta are a pleasure to listen to: Their individual perspectives, their expertise, their rapport, their senses of humor, their well of empathy and curiosity and disdain (where appropriate) for the characters’ inner worlds serve this deeply psychological show wonderfully and are a wonderful accompaniment to my fourth or fifth rewatch of Mad Men. You will come away from their discussions with new analyses, picking up on something new about each episode, or otherwise find their interpretation at odds with your own, which is also a clarifying and gratifying experience as a listener.

The only non-glowing feedback I have is about sound, which can occasionally be inconsistent. Sometimes I feel like I can’t get the volume loud enough OR issues arise where host’s volume is much louder than the other host’s (an issue that no doubt arises from recording over Skype or Zoom, and not in the same room or recording device). Ultimately, the struggle to better hear them is evidence of how much you don’t want to miss Dan and Roberta’s commentary.

Great time for a rewatch!

I am so delighted to have found this podcast. I started a rewatch this summer with my 16 year old daughter (her first viewing, my 2nd) and it has been so great to have this pod to listen to after each episode.

It’s nice to be watching with my daughter, but there are deeper levels to the show that I appreciate hearing from Roberta and Dan, and the special guests they have on periodically.

Whether this is your first time watching Mad Men, or you are doing a rewatch, I highly recommend this pod.
