NBA
It has been known for a long time KD was listed at 6'9 which may have been his height entering the league, but after a few years he grew (very evidently) and was closer to 7ft. After 10+ years the NBA listed him at 6'10 and this year, finally he is listed at 6'11 officially.

Went in last night to check out the NBA's new room in Horizon Worlds and it was pretty awesome to watch a game that way. The quality has improved so much since the last time I watched a NBA VR game that I was blown away.
I sat and talked to a few other people about how awesome Embid is and we were all really impressed. It just opened yesterday so curious if anyone else checked it out? I liked it enough to buy a Cavaliers shirt for my avatar for 1.00, so I thought I'd post the schedule below. New York and Charlotte play tonight and I'm actually kinda pumped to go watch it, especially with sports betting mixed in.
Horizon has become my new favorite app with all the cool free stuff they've added to in over the last year. If you haven't tried it lately, it's much better than it was a year ago.
Subreddit for discussion about Basketball GM https://basketball-gm.com/ , a free basketball management simulation video game. Any content even slightly remotely related to Basketball GM is welcome!
This is a great game, and it's obviously far and above what you would expect from a browser-based simulator. I don't mean to take away from the game, but there's no real other community to post this in.
Baseball has Out of the Park. This studio also produces a hockey simulator.
Football has Front Office Football and some other attempts at a full-fledged simulator, even such failed major attempts as NFL Head Coach
Soccer has a variety of options, most prominently, Football Manager.
Basketball is an extremely popular sport stateside and a growing international game. Yet, there isn't really even an attempt at a full-fledged simulator. Everyone always points to this game, and as much as I do like it, this is not what people are looking for and the performance is extremely subpar compared to a game like Out of the Park.
Where's the basketball sim? Any theories why literally no one has attempted this outside of BBGM?

Jones (NOP), and not Jokic (DEN), is the last player to touch the ball before it goes out of bounds. Possession should be retained by DEN.
No I'm not letting this go idc about our record. Refs were determined to give the Pelicans the ball. This could have and should have been reviewed. Nuggets are the 2nd in leading the league in the lowest amount of free throw attempts per game while being 2nd in the league in points in the paint. Such BS man

Broo, this is beyond insane. Why does the reddit page of freaking NBA ever remove this thread?
It is fine guys, we are not comparing our superstar, with a 0 defense stat padder who got exposed in world championship and will once again get exposed in the easier conference if they make playoffs.

A place for those looking to get away from the traditional cable tv model, and move toward cheaper and legal options like over the air antenna, library collections, and streaming services.
Worth mentioning that I am still fairly new to US so I do not have the whole idea of cables/networks and sports figured out.
Where I came from it was very simple. Certain network had rights for league x (all games) and if you wanted to watch something you just bought their package. They did not have all games, but it was simple.
I am watching primarily soccer, Premier League and Champions League. These are very easy to figure out as all you need is Paramount+ (Champions League), Peacock (Premier League) and USA Network (Premier League prime time games).
Where I get confused is with NBA games and NFL.
For NFL games there are some on Paramount+ and Peacock on Sundays, but I could not make sense of which games are going to be broadcasted there. As I'm local to the Boston area I would have expected to see the Patriots games are broadcasted but it was not always the case.
For NBA games, it looked to be even more complicated.
I tried to make it simple, and just did a few trials, primarily Sling (both packages), and FuboTV, but it just felt so random which games I can catch and which not. Surprisingly, for the very expensive FuboTV, I did not see many NBA games so decided to drop it.
I read this thread, including the reference Arstechnica, and the sentiment is that really there's no easy way.
Is there something I may be missing to get the most out of a streaming service (I was surprised that I did not get much more NBA/NFL games when having the expensive FuboTV)?
Any recommended options that would be good for prime time NFL and NBA games (with maybe more focus on the Celtics)?
I have been having tremendous problem streaming games on the NBA TV app (subscription: NBA League Pass). I've tried from multiple Apple TVs, two iPhones, an ipad, and a web browser. I consistently have issues.

If I join a live game and click "watch live", it almost always starts at the beginning. There is no way to resolve this, no matter how many times I try to rejoin. It continuously starts at the beginning. I then have to click "fast forward" to get to where I want in the game (which can take a long time).
-
If I start a game late, there is no way to resume if I pause.
3. Tonight, I was watching a game. I attempted to join "live", on a game in progress. It started from the beginning. So I opted to watch it from the beginning. The game went to overtime. Inexplicably, with 40 seconds left... the broadcast cut out completely.
4. The app logs me out every few days.
I haven't been able to watch a full game without issues the entire season, despite trying on at least six different devices and trying via a web browser. I've also updated the apps on most of my devices.
Sincere question: does anyone have positive experiences with the NBA app? I can't believe it's a problem with all of my devices, but perhaps something is wrong with my account? Does anyone use the app and *not* have one or more of the problems referenced above?
This scenario is unlikely to occur. However, there is a >0% chance to occur, and since we all like excitement and chaos here, we should root for it before they fix it for next season (I’m sure there’s an employee here who will read my post).
I’ll describe the hypothetical scenario of how this can occur below.
For the In-Season Tournament, the team with the best record in a group wins the group stage. However, if two or more teams are tied for first, it will go to tiebreakers. The first tiebreaker is H2H record, and the second tiebreaker is points differential. There are a few more tiebreakers, but those don’t matter here.
Since the In-Season Tournament does not have games between teams in the same group occurring at the same time (which I’m sure they’ll fix in future years - it’s a lesson the FIFA World Cup learned the hard way in 1982), there is a chance that during a team’s last group stage game, they’ll already know the result of the group (for example, the Kings and Warriors play their last group stage game after all other games have finished in their group). As a result, a team would know exactly what they need to do to win their group.
Call that team Team A. Let’s say that Team A knows that in order to advance, they have to win their last game in order to force a 3+ way tie for first. They also need to win by 6 or more points (it could be 7, 8, etc. just using 6 for simplicity).
The 3+ way tie is important. In that case, there could be no clear H2H winner as all 3 teams could be 1-1 against the other two. If it was just a two-way tie for first, then there would be a clear H2H winner, and it would not go to the points differential tiebreak.
In this scenario, let’s say that at the end of the game, Team A is leading by 2 points with 3 seconds to go, and they have the ball. They have to win by 6+ to win the group and advance. Well, there’s no way that’s going to happen because the other team clearly isn’t going to foul you to cause a 4+ point play. So what does Team A have to do?
They have to score in their own basket to force overtime. That’s their only chance of advancing. In that case, they force a tie, but because overtime points differential adds up still, they have a chance to win by 6+ overtime to advance. Of course, if the opposing team is the team that also needs to not lose by 6+ or more to advance, they would also try to prevent the other team from gifting them 2 points. In other words, the two teams would go in opposite directions.
The only risk for team A is by doing this, they could end up losing a team they would have won for the regular season standings had they not scored in their own basket. However, 1 game in the regular season standings clearly is worth a lot less than the monetary reward of winning the tournament, so they really isn’t much of a risk.
This actually has occurred throughout sports history. There once was a famous soccer game (Barbados Grenada) where the points differential tiebreak caused a ridiculous ending where one team tried to score in both goals and the other tried to prevent that from happening. It also happens in the NFL to a different extent (not points differential but time). There are some situations where a defense allows the other team to score a TD rather than wind down the clock in order to get a shots themselves.
Anyways, I’m sure this case will be fixed next year. I’m surprised no one thought of this when making the rules. However, for now, I really hope to see this occur this year.
