Based on community feedback, we are announcing that we have abandoned the Action RPG genre to focus on what players really want. Path of Exile is being replaced by PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE, a 100-person free-for-all battle royale game. PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE is live right now. Just run the old Path of Exile game client and it will update to PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE.
Check out the trailer for PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE here.
How to Play
-
If you don't already have a Path of Exile account, sign up here.
-
Run the PC version of Path of Exile and let it download patch 3.2.2 (PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE).
-
Launch the game, and log in to your account.
-
Click the Join button on the PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE banner which is displayed to the left of the screen.
-
Choose a character class and name as normal.
-
Once in the game, you won't be able to move until the game starts. Once there are 20 players, there will be 30 additional seconds for players to join (up to maximum of 100) before the game starts.
-
Games are hosted on servers located at the gateway you logged in on. If there aren't enough players, try a different gateway.
-
Once the game starts, the play area will shrink periodically. Stay within the red circle or you'll die.
-
The direction to the centre of the safe zone is always displayed at the feet of your character, so keep moving in that direction.
The winner of each match will receive a Rhoa Dinner to display in their Hideout. Enjoy!

You don't have to be a chef to know you're eating a shit sandwich.
All these changes to the game are being made to ease people into the inevitable PoE2 launch patch, which will basically overwrite PoE as we know it, much like Overwatch is doing now.
This is such a huge mistake. You can make a sequel have different mechanics and people will be excited for a change of pace and different experience. Doing that to something people like already for very specific reasons (The majority of us like to zoom and juice) that are basically the opposite of the sequels design principles is, and pardon my french here, fucking braindead and egotistical beyond measure. If the Vision was actually a good vision you'd share it in detail and explain what you want to make without any of the PR speak. But you know that the backlash will be enormous and you're terrified of that.
This is the shit ActivizionBlizzard has been pulling for years, divorcing their "vision" from what the players actually enjoy doing in the game, hemorrhaging subscribers and good will in the process. All in the name of the next thing. Of the next product. Of the next profit.
If you want to make a harder game, make a mode that caps your defenses at a lower number, and also inflicts a penalty to quant and magic find, since that seems to be what you want to play. Do literally anything else, I don't have the right answers. The vast majority of players, however, do not have the time to waste on this shit. Life is short, time can't be replaced, and you're wasting so much of ours.
That's where you're at, Chris. You are making the same mistakes you made fun of Blizzard for making. You have become the problem with the game.

Played through the diablo 4 campaign this weekend, but afterwards i just have no desire to play the game again, at least not until season 1 adds more things. I was hyped for this game for years and was so excited. But after playing it, it's just......too simple. Very few skills are actually good, only 1 or 2 builds for each class are actually viable in endgame. Too few enemies in dungeons and the open world make it feel like a walking simulator. Before I played POE i probably would have loved this game, but now? POE spoiled me too much with the insane skill tree, build diversity, sheer number of skills, and mob density.
