Cuban Anarchists On Context and Importance of the Recent Wave of Protests

On this episode of the It’s Going Down podcast, we speak with an anarchist from Cuba and a Cuban-American anarchist living in Miami about the recent wave of protests which have swept the island over the last few weeks. While the demonstrations took everyone by surprise, our guests argue that they are historic in that they represent a ground swell of working-class anger that has manifested itself in demonstrations, clashes with the police, and looting; activity which has not taken place on the island for decades.

For another 6 months, Eric will be unable to communicate with anyone who is not family. This will bring him to a total of a year and a half being held incommunicado from the public when this restriction ends

This was a tough year and more is to come. In those times we need solidarity more then ever – in daily life, our neighborhoods, our communities. But we should not forget our comrades in prison, who fight for freedom and equality. They experience hard times right now. Because the pandemic isolates people in prison even more. For that, this year we call again for the International Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners.
