>>It was more fun playing the Sixers when one of their starters didn’t want to play defense or break a sweat.
The 76ers are currently up vs the Boston Celtics in their matchup, a rematch of the 2023 ECSF.
The 76ers-Celtics rivalry is a rivalry between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The two clubs have played each other in 22 NBA playoff series (including the 1954 Eastern Division Round Robin), with the Celtics winning 15 of them.[1] The 76ers are regarded as the Celtics' second most important foe, trailing only the Los Angeles Lakers.

Relatively obscure stat, but impressive nonetheless.
The Timberwolves defense right now looks like an undeniably top-tier defense. Rudy is DPOY front runner, and they have a stable of long, athletic defenders that can guard ferociously inside and out. Entire team is bought in to being an elite defense, and they have the personnel to do it.
They’ve got an extremely difficult 5-game road stretch coming up. How they do in that stretch will tell us a lot, but right now they are head and shoulders above any other defense in the league.
This is ridiculous. That technical against Porzingis was a complete disgrace, and an insult to both player safety and the intelligence of fans. I mean he didn't even overindulge. He was running full speed in transition, dunked, and was trying to redirect his momentum to land safely, and they call a technical foul on him? It's actually disgusting

Hayward is 6-7 and George is 6-8. Hayward went to HS/College in Indiana, George was drafted by Indiana. Hayward has played 791 games, George has played 800.

I was watching a JxmyHighroller video about the evolution of the types of players NBA teams will fill their rosters with– midsized, versatile guys who can guard multiple positions, switch easily on defense, and be decent shooters from deep. What I find interesting about these guys is that some started as first or second options and could never really put things together in these situations until adjusting to a different role on a contender (Andrew Wiggins and Aaron Gordon are two names that come to mind). Both have really improved as defenders and saw their efficiency numbers rise in their new situations. NBA team have really started to value these types of players considerably. High quality role players on contending teams can reasonably expect to make upwards of $25 million annually, which was an area reserved for a smaller group of players not too long ago, even if we adjust for inflation.
I especially think that with the roster makeup style we’ve seen from recent NBA champions—as well as the issues that have come with many underachieving super teams over the years—we might be seeing more and more teams attempting to build contending rosters differently in the near future. What do you guys think? Is the superteam era ending soon?
I'm so glad basketball is back, there is so much cool shit going on right now
My only complaint is that my Lakers are underperforming to start the season (again) but I'm used to it at this point
Other than that look at what we got going on
-
Wemby finally on the court in real NBA games after all the speculation
-
CHET HOLMGREN doing work and looking good
-
OKC in general is a super fun team to watch
-
Ben Simmons actually back playing basketball again
-
James Harden on the CLIPPERS (what)
-
Paolo & the Magic looking good, another super fun team to watch
-
Damian Lillard playing on the BUCKS
-
Luka & Kyrie getting it going with breakout rookie Dereck Lively. Yet again super fun team to watch
-
TIMBERWOLVES looking solid as f right now. Ant Edwards is a beast. THese guys might be my second favorite team in the league.
-
Zion is back
-
Joel still holding it down in Philly despite all the Harden drama. Very impressive
-
As much as i hate Boston, gotta respect what they're doing right now, they are a super scary team
-
Denver somehow looking even better so far this year than they did last year
I'm sure there's lots more I'm missing. But i feel like each one of the points above could be the 'main story' of a normal season, and they are all happening right now at the same time. It's gonna be crazy to see how the season develops. Good stuff

This has to be the opposite of apex mountain for RR recently as his new thing on pods is to list when a player subs in/out by minute.
He did it with Cp3 and now Harden. Have to say it’s the worst segment on any pods I listen to and I can’t believe he keeps doing it

To drum up support for some gov't project, MCU Captain America gets drafted -- not into the army, but into the NBA.
Incidentally, he's drafted into whatever the worst team in the league is at the time.
Will his sheer athleticism and inspirational leadership ability be able to drive his team to victory in the NBA Finals more often than not?
Round 1) He's dropped in at the start of the season with only basic familiarity of basketball rules and regulations etc.
Round 2) He has 2mo prior to the start to train with his new team and learn whatever skills + tactics + techniques.
Round 3) Could he win the NBA finals if his teammates were a middle college or high-school team instead, compensating for everyone else being tremendously outmatched?
Bonus Rounds:
-
How does he do at other high-level team sports leagues / tournaments under similar conditions?
a. The National Hockey League / World Cup
b. Major League Baseball / World Series
c. National Football League / Super Bowl
d. FIFA World Cup
2) Who's the weakest "peak human" from popular media who'd be able to 5 / 10 these competitions solely on the basis of superior athleticism? (so their powers include eg enhanced speed, strength, reflexes, dexterity, etc. but not anything like teleportation or mind control etc.)
